REPORT ON APEDA’S PARTICIPATION AT FRUIT LOGISTICA -2013, BERLIN
(1) Fruit Logistica is the leading trade show for the international fresh produce
trade. It is a specialist trade show, which offers fresh produce sectors an
ideal opportunity to present their products across the entire value chain
from producers to food retailers. Exhibitors from every corner of the Globe
and every sector of the industry exhibit at Fruit Logistica. More than
58,000 top international decision-makers from 130 countries visited the
show. 2543 companies participated in Fruit Logistica 2013.
(2) APEDA took space of 108 sq. mts. for participations in the exhibition. The
space was allotted in Hall 5.2 where leading and top international brands
like TOTAL PRODUCE, Univeg, Fyffes, PINK LADY etc. were also present.
Indian pavilion was aesthetically designed and decorated by hiring an event
management company. Both the location of APEDA pavilion as well as
design and decoration of the pavilion were greatly appreciated by the
participating exporters and visitors. APEDA’s participation was also
publicized through putting up information on Fruit Logistica banner FRUIT
LOGISTICA BERLIN VIRTUAL MARKET PLACE.
(3) Indian participation in Fruit Logistica was coordinated by Mr. R.K. Boyal,
Director, APEDA and Mr. R.S. Bisht, Under Secretary, Ministry of Commerce
and Industries.
(4) Leading fresh produce companies participated in the show. The following
fresh produce exporters were present at the Indian pavilion who showcased
an array of fresh produce: -

Three Indian exporters (Two fresh produce exporters and one from
packaging sector) also participated in the exhibition by taking separate
space.
(5) In addition, around 20 exporters of fresh produce and processed fruits &
vegetables visited the show from India. The Indian pavilion provided them
a plate-form for meeting with buyers and provided them other assistance
for their fruitful visit to the exhibition.
(6) The feed back received from the participating exporters is that they are
very happy with the location, Layout, design and overall management of
the Indian pavilion. All exporters received serious business enquiries and
couple of exporters received orders from the buyers during the exhibition.
(7) APEDA had extended invitation to the Ambassador and other officials of
Indian Embassy to visit Indian Pavillion at Fruit Logistica. However, in view
of the visit of a high level Indian delegation to Berlin during the week, the
official from Embassy could not visit Indian Pavillion. However, Mr. R.K.
Boyal and Mr. R.S. Bisht visited Indian Embassy on last day of exhibition
(8th Feb) and met Sh. Ajit Gupte, DCM and Sh. Ashok Kumar, Commercial
Councellor. They were briefed on India’s participation at Fruit Logistica
2013. The suggestions given by the Embassy officials including export of
high value fruits & vegetables to EU markets, mango promotions in Berlin
during forthcoming season, regular updation of Embassy on new initiatives
taken by APEDA etc. were noted.

(9) Fruit Logistica is the largest exhibition in the fresh horticulture produce
trade. All exporters who participated in Fruit Logistica this year are keen to
participate in Fruit Logistica, 2014. Hence, it is recommended that APEDA
should continue to participate in the show at larger scale.
