Department of Computer Engineering: Roll No Name of Students To Be Editted Name of The Guide To Be Editted

The document outlines three problem statements and corresponding solutions developed by the Department of Computer Engineering. The first addresses neighborhood issues through a mobile/web app for reporting civic problems, the second proposes a platform for direct property transactions between owners and buyers/renters, and the third introduces a smart expiry tracker app for managing product expiration dates. Each solution includes a methodology for user interaction and data management.

Computer Engineering Department 1

Problem Statement 1

Snap and Report - Neighborhood Issue Reporter

1 .Civic issues like potholes, broken streetlights, and garbage are common in neighborhoods.
2 .Citizens lack a simple and direct way to report these issues to local authorities.
3 .Traditional complaint methods (like visiting offices or calling) are slow and inefficient.
4 .Authorities often remain unaware of local problems due to lack of timely reporting.
5 .No proper system to track the status of complaints once submitted
6 .Some critical issues remain unresolved for long periods, affecting public safety and quality
of life.
Solution 1
1. Develop a mobile/web app for reporting neighborhood issues.
2. Allow users to report problems with photo and location.
3. Citizens can track status (Pending, In Progress, Resolved).
4. Authorities get a dashboard to view, assign, and update reports.
5. Users can upvote issues to highlight urgent ones.
6. Send notifications when issue status changes.
Methodology/ Algorithms
1 .User logs in/registers
2. Reports issue with photo, type & location
3. Data saved in database (status: Pending)
4. Admin views and assigns issues
5. Status updated (In Progress / Resolved)
6. Users track status & get notifications
7. Upvote system to prioritize issues
8. Admins generate reports for analysis
Problem Statement 2

HomeLink- Owner-to-Buyer/Renter Platform

1.Property owners struggle to find genuine buyers or renters without middlemen
2. Agents charge high commissions and sometimes misrepresent property details.
3. Buyers/renters find it hard to access verified listings and contact owners directly.
4. There's a lack of a transparent, commission-free platform for property transactions.
Solution 2
Develop HomeLink, a web/mobile platform where:

1. Property owners can list their properties for rent or sale.

2. Buyers and renters can browse listings based on filters (location, price, type).
3. The platform allows direct communication between both parties — no agents involved.
4. User verification ensures only genuine users and listings.
5. Properties can be marked as Available / Booked / Sold.
Methodology/ Algorithms
1.Users register/login as owner or buyer/renter

2. Owners post property with details, photos & location

3. Buyers/renters search using filters (location,price,range,size,type)
4. After viewing buyer can directly contact the owner via call or message.
5. All property and user data is stored securely. Admin can manage flagged listings
or fake accounts.
6. Optional: Reviews & ratings for owners/properties
Problem Statement 3
Lifespan-Smart Product Expiry Alert System
1.Many products like medicines, cosmetics, food items, and personal care products have
expiry dates.
2. Users often forget to check or track these expiry dates.

3. Using expired products can cause health risks, waste, or legal issues (in stores).

4. No simple system exists for tracking product expirations automatically at home or in small
businesses.
Solution 3
Build Lifespan, a smart expiry tracker app that:

1.Allows users to add products manually or via barcode/QR scan.

2. Saves and tracks expiry dates for each item.
3. Sends notifications/reminders before products expire.
4. Organizes items by category, expiry urgency, or location (e.g., fridge, medicine box).
5. Optional cloud sync and multiple device support.
Methodology/ Algorithms
1.Users sign up to store and access their expiry data securely.

2. Manually enter product name, category, expiry date. or use barcode/QR scanner to
auto-fill details (from a database or user input).
3. Each product stored with name, category, date of entry, and expiry date. Stored in
local or cloud database with user ID.
4. App checks for upcoming expirations daily. Sends alerts (1 week, 3 days, 1 day before
expiry). Marks expired items clearly in red or moves them to "Expired" list.
5. Users can filter items by category (e.g., Medicines, Food). Option to delete, renew, or
restock products.
