INTRODUCTION
Education is the main foundation in forming superior and competitive human resources. One
important aspect in the education process is mastery of numeracy or the ability to calculate.
Mastery of numeracy plays a crucial role in the cognitive development of students, forming
the basis for understanding mathematical concepts, and equipping them with essential skills
to face future challenges..
In this era of globalization, education is faced with various challenges, especially in
improving the quality of learning to suit technological developments and the demands of the
increasingly complex industrial world. The application of learning media is one solution to
increase the effectiveness and attractiveness of the learning process. Number card media is a
card that contains a symbol of a number along with the name of the number symbol listed.
Flash card media also has a role, namely in addition to this media also plays a role in
building children's interest in learning, interesting for children, stimulating children's minds
and children are more enthusiastic about learning when using number card media. Number
card media is interesting for children because of the card design, various colors, and different
learning methods. At this time to make it easier for children to recognize hundreds of
multiplication, they can use number card media. Number cards or card props are tools or
equipment used by a teacher in teaching in the form of cards with numbers written on them
according to the theme being taught.
Based on the problem formulation above, the objectives of this research are to:
   1. To find out how the use of flash card learning media improves the numeracy skills of
students in grade 1 at SDN Serua 01.
   2. To determine the influence of the use of flash card learning media on improving the
arithmetic skills of grade 1 students at SDN Serua 01.
METHOD RESEARCH
The research method used by the researcher is True experiment research with a
quantitative approach. This study uses the Posttest-Only Control Design design form. In the
Posttest-Only Control Design there are two groups, each of which is selected randomly (R).
The first group is given treatment (X) and the other group is not. The group that is given
treatment is called the experimental group and the group that is not given treatment is called
the control group. In this experiment, the researcher used Flash Card media as a treatment
given to the experimental group to improve students' initial reading skills in learning.
In its implementation, this study uses a quantitative experimental research type by
providing a special treatment to the experimental class. In this study, there are two classes,
namely the control class (a class that is not given special treatment) and the experimental
class (a class that is given special treatment).
Data collection is an important thing in research, because various methods are used by
researchers to collect the data needed in their research. The techniques used in collecting data
for this research are:
        1. Observation
        2. Test
        3. Documentation
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
This study uses quantitative research by providing an instrument in the form of a posttest.
Previously, the instrument will be tested on students to measure the validity of the instrument
questions, if it is said to be valid, the reliability of the questions will be tested before being
tested on the research subjects or samples. The sample in this study was class IA students as
an experimental class totaling 24 students and class IB as a control class totaling 24 students.
Both classes conducted a posttest to try the instrument with the questions to be tested.
The instrument to be used in this study is a Numeracy Ability test using Flash Cards
consisting of 5 assessment indicators. The existing instrument was first given to class I
students at the school to be tested and the results will be declared valid.
Then after that, testing will be carried out on class I students of SDN Serua 01 after
completing the subject of numeracy. The results of the existing test will be used to see the
numeracy ability using Flash Cards of students in both classes. The following is the research
  data.
  1. Tables
In this study, the experimental class students were 24 students in class IA. The posttest scores
were taken after the class was given treatment using Flash Cards. The control class students
are in class I B as many as 24 students. The Posttest score is given after the class has
conducted learning without implementing Flash Card media.
