CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES GUIDELINES

FOR 2025/2026 - GRADES 1 TO A/L
Dear Parents,

To create and develop a healthy mind it is essential for a child to develop a healthy body.
Therefore, at Lyceum, we encourage our students to take part in Co-Curricular Activities. With
this in view we have planned the following programme for students of Grades 1 to A/L.

It is compulsory that parents ensure , through regular medical checkups, that their child is
medically and physically fit to participate in the selected activity. The “Medical Details of
the student” in the SRB must be accurately filled.

1. Marks are given to children from Grade 6 to A/L at the end of each semester for Physical
Education (PE) and the relevant Co-Curricular Activities.

2. CCA will be launching compulsory clubs and societies in each LIS branch allowing the
students to engage with like minded community within the school, district, province,
nation and globally. All clubs and societies will be eligible for marks under the
mentioned criteria. Clubs and societies will be available from grade 6 and upwards.

3. Students in Grades 6 to A/L are allowed to select a maximum of 2 activities of which one
should be a PHYSICAL activity. It is recommended to follow a club/society.
a) Marks given for semesters will be considered for non-physical activities, only if you have
selected and attended a physical activity. Less than 60% attendance for the physical
activity will lead to zero (0) marks. To receive marks for non physical activities, you
should have at least 60% attendance for the physical activity or non physical activity.
b) The highest obtained mark, out of the selected activities, will be considered for the
semester report. The requirement in point “a”must be fulfilled successfully in order to be
eligible for this.
c) If a student attends outside practices or outside coaching, the student has to come at
least thrice a month for school practices in order to be eligible for marks. The
student must inform the Sports Department prior and get their attendance marked from
the outside coach and handover the attendance sheet to the school teacher in charge
the day after the practice session. This is mandatory to be eligible marks
d) If a student misses a CCA activity due to representing the school in another approved
event, they must obtain an excuse letter from the relevant Teacher-in-Charge and
submit it to the CCA Teacher-in-Charge whose activity was missed . Only then will the
absence be considered as an excused absence
e) If the prefects are unable to attend practices and maintain the 60% attendance, they
have to attend the school practices at least thrice a month, to be eligible for marks.
If a prefect is unable to attend a practice session due to duty allocated by the school,
his/her attendance should be marked by the prefects TIC and handed over to the sports
department.
f) 25% Marks will be allocated for Physical Education (P.E.) for students who take part in
the following at the Sports Meet (25% for P.E. and 25% for March Past). The students
have to be present on the day of the Sport Meet as well as be present for 75% or more
for the practice sessions.
i. March Past
ii. Western Band
iii. Eastern Band

5. For students of Grades 1 to 5, Swimming (except LEA) & PE are compulsory which is
held during school time, and considered as a subject of the curriculum. If necessary, your
child can take part in maximum of two Co-Curricular Activities held after school for
which marks will not be given.

6. Co-Curricular Activities are not compulsory for students of Grades 10 & above due to
their O/L and A/L examinations. Instead their PE marks will be doubled at the semester
examination. But if they do participate in a co-curricular activity, the higher mark of the two
will be selected, i.e. PE marks x 2 or selected physical co-curricular activity.

7. Transport to the venue and back will be provided by the school for all Co-Curricular
Activities held outside school premises. If the venue is close to school the children will have
to walk to the venue with the teacher-in-charge. Parents cannot pick their child up from the
venue unless permission is granted via the S.R.B.

8. Parents should ensure that their child proceeds with his / her studies simultaneously with
the activities selected in order to balance both Studies and Co-Curricular Activities.

9. The school expects the child to excel in the selected activity with due dedication. Attending
to regular practices according to a well planned time table will lead towards making him /
her a Champion in the selected sport, thereby encouraging the child to continue with the
sport throughout his/her life. Students can win a term / year of sport scholarship for
certain events they win. (Please refer to the SHB 1 for details).

form should be completed and submitted on or before 15th July 2025.

13. Students who do not submit the duly completed CCA form on the due date (25th July 2025)
will not be eligible for any activity for the new academic year. Although the form is issued
during the current year, parents should indicate the child’s preferences for the next
academic year 2025/ 2026.

14. New students who join after this date should fill this form and submit within one week of
