Reflection on Lesson Planning Process

 What went well during this lesson?

o The students seemed engaged and excited about the topic. They participated
actively in the group discussion and were able to grasp the core concepts quickly.
 What could have been improved?
o The pacing felt rushed toward the end, and I didn’t give enough time for students
to complete their individual assignments. I should have allocated more time for
independent practice.
 How did students respond to the activities?
o Most students responded well to the group activities and the interactive
discussions, but a few seemed overwhelmed by the amount of information
presented in the beginning.
 What would I do differently next time?
o I will adjust the lesson’s pacing by allocating more time for individual work and
reflection. I will also slow down the initial explanation to ensure all students are
following along.

2. Reflection on Student Understanding

 What were the key learning outcomes of the lesson?

o By the end of the lesson, most students were able to identify and analyze the key
features of a narrative structure. They showed understanding by correctly labeling
different story elements in the text.
 Were the students able to meet the lesson objectives?
o Yes, the majority of students were able to meet the objectives. However, a small
group still had difficulty differentiating between climax and resolution, and they
will need additional practice.
 How did I assess student understanding?
o I used formative assessments through group discussions and individual written
reflections. The exit tickets were particularly helpful in gauging their
understanding of the key concepts.
 What adjustments could I make to support student learning more effectively?
o I could incorporate more visual aids and examples to clarify abstract concepts,
particularly for students who struggle with reading comprehension.

3. Reflection on Classroom Management

 How well did I manage the classroom?

o Classroom management was mostly effective, but there were a few moments
where students became distracted during group work. I used proximity and verbal
cues to keep them on task.
 Were there any challenging behaviors?
o There were some off-task behaviors during the group discussions. A couple of
students were talking loudly and were not engaged in the activity.
 How did I handle these challenges?
o I calmly redirected the students by walking over to their group and quietly asking
them to focus. I also made sure to praise students who were engaged to encourage
the others to follow suit.
 What could I do differently next time?
o I could set clearer expectations for group work at the start of the lesson and
establish a signal for when the class needs to refocus.

4. Reflection on Instructional Strategies

 Which teaching strategies were most effective?

o The use of collaborative group work and peer feedback was highly effective in
reinforcing the content. Students were able to learn from each other and share
different perspectives on the topic.
 Which strategies were less effective?
o The direct instruction at the start of the lesson might not have been as engaging.
Some students seemed disengaged, particularly those who are more kinesthetic
learners.
 What could I change in my teaching approach?
o I will try to incorporate more hands-on activities for students who learn best
through movement. I also plan to include more multimedia resources to
supplement direct instruction.

5. Reflection on Student Engagement

 How engaged were the students during the lesson?

o Engagement was high during the group discussions and interactive activities.
However, attention seemed to dip during long periods of lecturing.
 How can I increase student engagement?
o I plan to integrate more interactive technology or activities that appeal to different
learning styles, such as interactive polls, games, or role-playing.
 Did I provide opportunities for all students to participate?
o I did my best to encourage all students to participate, though a few shy students
were reluctant to speak in large groups. I’ll try using more pair-share activities
next time to give everyone a voice
