MONITORING:
Please monitor Digit for any vomiting, worsening stool abnormalities, decreased appetite, lethargy, or
weakness. If you notice these, or any other concerning signs or behaviors, please contact your primary care
veterinarian, or Veterinary Emergency Group if after hours.

Please note, it may take several days for the stool issues to completely resolve, but it should be getting better
and not worse.

Digit has been given a very strong medication to prevent vomiting (Cerenia). If Digit vomits again, please seek
veterinary attention. Further diagnostic workup and bloodwork or an ultrasound may be warranted at this time.

FOLLOW-UP:
If Digit has not eaten in the next 24 hours, please return to VEG or your primary vet for possible hospitalization
and additional diagnostics.

Thank you for entrusting Veterinary Emergency Group of Lincoln Park with Digit's care. If you have any
questions, comments or concerns about Digit or the visit please feel free to reach out via email
(lincolnpark@veg.vet) or telephone (312) 757-5444.

Test Result Reference Value

Total T4 1.9 µg/dL 0.8-4.7 µg/dL
Test Result Reference Value
Diagnostic Interpretation for TT4
< 0.8 µg/dL Subnormal
0.8 - 4.7 µg/dL Normal
2.3 - 4.7 µg/dL Grey zone in old or symptomatic cats
> 4.7 µg/dL Consistent with hyperthyroidism
Cats with subnormal T4 values are almost exclusively euthyroid sick or
over treated for their hyperthyroidism. Older cats with consistent clinical
signs and T4 values in the grey zone may have early hyperthyroidism or
a concurrent non-thyroidal illness. Hyperthyroidism may be con rmed in
these cats by adding on a freeT4 (fT4) or by performing a T3
suppression test. Following treatment with methimazole, T4 values will
generally fall within the lower to middle end of the reference range.
