PERFORMANCE TASK: FACULTY IN FICTION

G. R. A. S. P. S.

Goal

Your goal is to craft a compelling and imaginative short story where


your teachers are the main characters. The story may belong to any fiction
genre (mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, etc.), but it must demonstrate
creativity, coherence, and thoughtful character development.

Role

You are a fiction writer, tasked with turning familiar figures in your
academic life—your teachers—into fully fleshed-out characters in a fictional
world of your own creation.

Audience

Your primary audience is your classmates and teachers, but imagine your
story could also be published in a school magazine or literary blog. It should
be engaging and appropriate for a broad school community.

Situation

You are inspired to show appreciation, humor, or new perspectives on your


teachers by featuring them as protagonists, heroes, villains, or even surprising
characters in an original story.
Product/Performance

You will produce a short story (minimum of 1000–2000 words) in which:

• Your teachers are the main characters, portrayed respectfully yet


creatively.
• The plot follows a clear structure (exposition, rising action, climax, falling
action, resolution).
• You apply literary elements such as characterization, setting, conflict,
dialogue, and theme.
• You use appropriate grammar, tone, and vocabulary for your chosen genre.

Standards for Success

Your work will be evaluated based on:

• Creativity and originality of the storyline and character portrayal


• Use of literary techniques (dialogue, figurative language, point of view, etc.)
• Depth and respect in teacher characterization
• Organization and structure of the narrative
• Mechanics and language use (grammar, punctuation, spelling)
• Theme clarity and overall message or insight

Task: Writing a Fictional Short Story
Output Type: Printed, on short bond paper

Content Requirements:
• Word Count:
Minimum: 1,000 words
Maximum: 2,000 words+
• Must Include:
Dialogue between characters
Illustrations or drawings (related to scenes or characters)

Page Format (Short Bond Paper):


1. Cover/Title Page (Page 1)
- Title of the story
- Name(s) of the author(s)
- Grade/Section
- Date of submission
2. Story Overview (Page 2)
- Setting – Time and place
- Characters – Brief description of the main characters
- Synopsis – Summary of the story (5–7 sentences)
3. Full Story (Page 3 and onward)
- Write your complete story
- Integrate your drawings where appropriate (you may also place them in the margins or
separate pages)

Guidelines:
• Use proper margins and line spacing (Times New Roman, 12, 1.5 spacing, justified)
• Attach all pages securely (stapled or placed in a folder)
• Original work only – Plagiarism/AI will result in a failing grade
• Avoid foul or inappropriate language
Deadline:
Submit on or before: AUGUST 08, 2025
