Passport (IHSP)
Duration: Foundation - 1 day, Advanced – 2 day, Supervisor – 1 day
What is it? The IHSP is an internationally recognised health and
safety scheme offered at three levels (Foundation, Advanced and
Supervisor). The qualification is transferable across countries/
sites and is valid for 3 years. The ECITB issues around 60,000 safety
passports each year worldwide and it has been used by contractors as
a minimum health and safety requirement on numerous large
scale projects.
Who is it for? It is suitable for all site staff and ensures that there is
a base level of health and safety awareness that enables employees
at every level to work more safely with lower risks to themselves and
others. The qualification can be used across a wide variety of
industries and sectors.
What does it cover? Key topics include: Safe behaviours at work /
Risk Assessments / Hierarchy of Control / Manual Handling / Use
of Work Equipment Regulations / Hand Arm Vibration / Confined
Spaces / Working at Height / Lifting Operations and Regulations / Site
Transport / Signage / Excavations / Electric Isolation / Environmental
Concerns / Reporting Injuries and other dangerous occurrences.
How is it delivered? This course is delivered in English in a classroom
through one of the ECITB’s Licenced Training Providers who are
located across the world. It includes case studies, group discussions
and an assessment. It can also be delivered in other languages.
