Carrots page 1

With yarn AB (two strands together) cast on 20 sts for Carrot Top

HERITAGE *Work short rows to shape the Carrot

CARROTS ...
Short row 1 K16, W+Tk
Short row 2 P16
Short row 3 K12, W+Tk
Short row 4 P12
Short row 5 K8, W+Tk
Short row 6 P8
Short row 7 K4, W+Tk
Short row 8 P4
Row 1 Knit
Row 2 Purl**
Next Repeat last eight short rows and Rows 1 & 2, so from * to **, twice
Cast off.
Join seam
RS together, fold carrot in half across the cast-off edge and back stitch to
join the row ends for the Carrot seam.
Turn out to the RS. Stuff and shape through the Carrot Top cast-on edge.
Work a running stitch around the Carrot Top sts and pull up to gather.
YARN For this small project I used what I had in my stash which Secure the end. Thread up mohair or fine yarn/ thread for the carrot root
happened to be various carrot colour shades of Drops Alpaca and kid-silk: and secure at the tip of the carrot and allow the tail ends to dangle down.
Yarn A 4-ply/ fingering weight alpaca and B Thread up green yarn for the carrot top and secure at the top of the carrot,
Yarn B kid-silk mohair/ lace-weight yarn plus some green yarn you can either make a loop/s and work a stitch or two to secure the loop or
KNITTING NEEDLES Pair size 3.50mm/ US 4 straight knitting needles just leave the ends to dangle as you did for the roots.
