First Khutbah
ْ‫سَنا َوِمن‬ َُْ ُ ُ ْ ُ ََُ ُُ َْ ََْ ُُ َ ََْ ُ ُ ََْ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َّ
ِ ‫ِ ِمن شورِ أنف‬+‫ ونعوذ ب ِا‬, ‫ ونستِعينه ونستغِفره‬, ‫ نمده‬, ِ+ِ ‫إ ِن المد‬
ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ َ َ َ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ُ َ َّ ُ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ّ َ
‫ وأشهد أن‬, ‫ هاِدي ل‬O‫ ومن يضل ِل ف‬, ‫ضل ل‬ ِ ‫ م‬O‫ ف‬+‫ من يهِده ِ ا‬, ‫ت أعماِلا‬ ِ ‫سي ِئا‬

ُ‫مَّمًدا َعبُْدُه َوَرُسوُل‬ َّ َ َ َ
‫شيك ل وأن‬ ِ Z ‫ وحده‬+‫ ا‬Zِ ‫ إ ِل إ‬Z
Verily, all praise is for Allah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we
ask for His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Him from the evils of our
selves. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide. Whoever He misguides,
none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah
and I bear witness that Mohammad is His servant and messenger.
َ ُ ْ ُ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َّ َّ ُ ُ َ َ َ َ ُ َّ َ َ َّ ُ َّ ُ َ َ ّ َ ُّ َ َ
‫ وأنتم مسل ِمون ﴾ ]آل‬Zِ ‫ تموتن إ‬Z‫ حق تقات ِهِ و‬+‫لين آ َمنوا اتقوا ا‬
ِ ‫)يا أيها ا‬
[102:‫عمران‬
Al Imran(3) 102 : O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and
die not except in a state of Islam.

Oh Believers:
Indeed consciousness of Allah - exalted be He is a provision for the
believer in this world, and salvation and elevation on the Day of
Resurrection. Through it, sustenance is obtained, and distress is removed.
Allah Almighty said:
ُ‫سب‬ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ً َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َّ َ ْ َ َ
ِ ‫ يعل ل مرجا ويرزقه ِمن حيث > يت‬,‫ومن يتِق ا‬
Talaq (65) 2-3: (2) And whoever fears Allāh - He will make for him a way
out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect.

And Allah Almighty said:

‫َ ﯾَْﺠﻌَْﻞ ﻟَﮫ ُ ِﻣْﻦ أ َْﻣِﺮِه ﯾُْﺴًﺮا‬, ِ ‫َوَﻣْﻦ ﯾَﺘ ﱠ‬


‫ﻖ ﱠ‬
Talaq (65) 4: And whoever fears Allāh - He will make for him of his matter
ease.
It is from the generosity and blessings of Allah Almighty upon His servants
that He has granted them hearts that carry religious affection with which
they ascend to Him Almighty if they nurture and fill them with His love and
the love of His Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬and do not separate between these two
loves in word, deed, and thought.

Indeed, the love of the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬is part of the love of Allah, and
someone who does not love His Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬does not love Allah even if
they make the sternest of oaths that they love Allah. For Allah - the
Exalted and Glorious - says:
ُ ُ ُ ُ َ ْ ُ َّ ُ ُ ْ ْ ُ َّ َ َ َّ َ ُّ ُ ْ ُ ْ ُ ْ ْ ُ
‫ َوَيغفِْر لكْم ذنوَبكْم‬, ‫ فاتب ُِعوِن يبِبكم ا‬, ‫قل إ ِن كنتم تِبون ا‬
Al Imran (3) 31: Say, [O Muḥammad], "If you should love Allāh, then
follow me, [so] Allāh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allāh is
Forgiving and Merciful

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬is the leader of the children of Adam. He is


the guided mercy and the bestowed blessing. Whoever obeys him has
obeyed Allah. Allah Almighty said:
َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ َّ
َ,َّ‫ع ا‬ ‫َمْن يُِطِع الرسول فقد أطا‬
An Nisa (4) 80: He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allāh.

And whoever pledges allegiance to the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬is actually pledging


allegiance to Allāh. Allah Almighty said:

ْ‫ِ فَْوَق َأي ِْديهم‬,َّ‫ يَُد ا‬, َ َ ُ َ ُ َ َّ َّ
َ َّ ‫ك إَّنَما ُيَبايُعوَن ا‬ ِ ‫إ ِن ا‬
ِ ِ ِ ‫لين يباي ِعون‬
Fath (48) 10: Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O
Muḥammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allāh. The hand of
Allāh is over their hands.

And the Prophet’s ‫ ﷺ‬judgment is from the judgment of Allah. Allah


Almighty said:
َّ‫سهْم َحَرًجا ِمما‬ َُْ ُ َ َ َّ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َ ُ ّ َ ُ َّ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ّ َ َ َ َ
ِ ِ ‫يدوا ِف أنف‬ِ > ‫كموك فِيما شجر بينهم ثم‬ ِ ‫ ورب ِك > يؤِمنون حت ي‬i‫ف‬
َ ّ َ َ
‫ت َوي َُسل ُِموا تْسل ِيًما‬
َ ْ‫ض ي‬ ‫ق‬
Nisa (4) 65: But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they
make you, [O Muḥammad], judge concerning that over which they
dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no
discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing]
submission.
The elevation of the Ummah, its strength, honor, and eminence all
depend upon the extent of their love for the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬in word and
deed, both outwardly and inwardly. Whoever reads the history of the
Ummah, which is full of victory, empowerment, and elevation, will be
convinced of the truth of this matter.

If a community’s love for the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬weakens and its support for him
‫ ﷺ‬diminishes, it is deserving of humiliation and degradation, and other
communities will prevail over it. How not, when the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬says:
َ ْ َ‫ﺠﺎس أ‬
َ‫ﻤﺟﻌﻦﻴ‬ 0 َ َ َ ََ ْ َْ 0 َ َ َ ُ َ 0 َ ْ ُ ُ َ َ ُ ُْ َ
ِ ِ ‫هِ وا‬9
ِ ِ ‫هِ ووا‬9
ِ ‫ِﻪ ِﻣﻦ و‬6‫ أﻛﻮن أﺣﺐ ِإ‬/‫ﻻ ﻳﺆِﻣﻦ أﺣﺪﻛﻢ ﺣ‬
None of you has believed until I am dearer to him than his son, his father
and all the people. [Muslim 44b]

And Allah Almighty said:
ً ََ َ
َ ِ ‫} ال ُْمْؤِمن‬ َ ْ ُ َّ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ
i‫ي َسب ِي‬ ‫ ل ِلكف ِِرين‬, ‫ولن يعل ا‬
Nisa (4) 141: And never will Allāh give the disbelievers over the believers
a way [to overcome them].
Whoever reflects upon this verse and this hadith will realize that whoever
loves the Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬has believed, and whoever believes, the
disbelievers will have no way over them, whether they are individuals or
communities.
It does not follow from this that if the Ummah weakens due to a lack of
complete love and support for the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬, it is evidence of their
hatred for him. No, this is a misunderstanding. Rather, what is meant is the
absence of perfect love that makes his command, judgment, and support
take precedence over everything else. For evils are present to the extent
of deficiencies in the complete love for him ‫ ﷺ‬. Allah Almighty says:
َ ُِ ‫صيَبُهْم ف ِتَْنٌة أَْو ي‬ ُ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ُ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َ
ٌ‫صيَبُهْم َعَذاٌب أِلم‬ ِ ‫لين يال ِفون عن أمرِه ِ أن ت‬
ِ ‫فليحذرِ ا‬
Nur (24) 63: So let those beware who dissent from his [i.e., the Prophet's]
order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬held Umar’s hand, and Umar said to him: “O Messenger
of Allah! You are more beloved to me than anything except myself.” The
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:
0 َ َ ُ0 َ ُ َ ُ َُ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َْ 0 َ َ َ ُ َ 0 َ َ َْ 0 َ َ
،‫ﺑ‬
ِ ‫ ﻗﻤﺮ ﻓِﺈﻧﻪ اﻵن وا‬N ‫ﻚ ِﻣﻦ ﻏﻔِﺴﻚ ﻓﻘﺎل‬6‫ أﻛﻮن أﺣﺐ ِإ‬/‫ ﻧِﻴِﺪهِ ﺣ‬Fِ‫ي ﻏﻔ‬B ِ ‫ﻻ وا‬
َ‫ﻠَﻢ اﻵَن ﻳَﺎ ُﻗﻤﺮ‬0‫ﷲ َﻋﻠَﻴْﻪ َوَﺳ‬
ُ ‫ﻰﻠ ا‬0‫ﻲﺒ َﺻ‬ 0 َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ُّ َ َ َ ََْ
ِ 0
ُّ ‫ ﻓﻘﺎل اﺠ‬،Fِ‫ﻷﻧﺖ أﺣﺐ ِإﻲﻟ ِﻣﻦ ﻏﻔ‬
ِ
No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete faith)
till I am dearer to you than your own self. Then `Umar said to him, "Now,

by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self." The Prophet ‫ﷺ‬
said, Now, O Umar (you are a believer). [Bukhari 6632]

The love of the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬is not a fanciful notion, nor is it an


unbearable obligation. Rather, it is spirituality, relaxation, and happiness
that only those granted it can feel. Only those with dead hearts will be
indifferent to it or belittle it. This is the characteristic of the hard-hearted,
the cruel, and those dedicated to this worldly life who fill their hearts with
things that distract them from him ‫ﷺ‬. Allah (Glory be to Him) has linked
the happiness of both worlds to following him ‫ﷺ‬, and has linked the
misery of both worlds to disobeying him ‫ﷺ‬. For his followers there is
guidance, security, and success, honor and sufficiency, pleasure and
guardianship, support, and a good life in this world and the hereafter.
And for his opposers, there is humiliation, pettiness, fear, misguidance,
betrayal, and misery in this world and the Hereafter.

ُ‫ﺣﻴﻢ‬ َ ّ ُ ُ َ َ ُ ُ َّ ُ ُ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ّ ُ ْ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ََ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ُ ُ َ
ٍ ‫ﻞﻛ ذﻧ‬
ِ ‫ﺐ ﻓﺎﺳﺘﻐِﻔﺮوه إ ِﻧﻪ ﻫﻮ اﻟﻐﻔﻮر اﻟﺮ‬ ِ ‫أﻗﻮل ﻣﺎ ﺗﺴﻤﻌﻮن وأﺳﺘﻐِﻔﺮ اﷲ ِﻲﻟ وﻟﻜﻢ ِﻣﻦ‬
I say what you have heard and I seek forgiveness from Allah for me and you
from every sin. So seek forgives from Him, Verily He is Oft-Forgiving, the
Most Merciful.

Second Khutbah
َ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َّ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ
ُWَ ‫ﻚ‬ ُ َ َ َ ُ َ َّ َ ُ َ َّ َ َّ ُ ْ َ
ِ ‫ إ ِﻻ اﷲ وﺣﺪه ﻻ‬Wِ ‫ و أﺷﻬﺪ أن ﻻ إ‬, ِ‫ واﻟﺼﻼة واﻟﺴﻼم ﺒﻟ رﺳﻮِل اﷲ‬,ِ‫اﺤﻟﻤﺪ ِﺑ‬
‫ﺮﺷﻳ‬
َ ُ َّ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ
ُWُ‫ﺤﻣَّﻤَﺪاً َﻗْﺒُﺪهُ َوَرُﺳْﻮ‬ ‫وأﺷﻬﺪ أن‬
All praise is to Allah, and peace and blessings upon the Messenger of
Allah, and I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah and I bear
witness that Mohammad is His slave and messenger.

Be conscious of Allah and know that loving the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬without
following him is nothing but a mere claim that does not go beyond the
throat of its claimant. How is it possible that the arrogant have love of the
Prophet ‫ !?ﷺ‬And the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬was the best of those who humbled
himself for Allah.

How is it possible that wrongdoers love him ‫ !?ﷺ‬And he ‫ ﷺ‬was the


most just of people.
And where is the love of the traitor.. and where is the love of the thief..
and that of the killer.. and many others?!
Is it not disappointing and a loss that inanimate objects and animals are
more conscious of his prophetic station than some humans who have
minds and reasoning abilities ?!

Indeed, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:


َ ْ ُ ُ ْ َ َ ِّ َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ْ َ 0 َ َ ُ ِّ َ ُ َ َ َ 0 َ ً َ َ ُ ْ َ َ ِّ
‫ ﻷﻋِﺮﻓﻪ اﻵن‬c‫ ﻷﻋِﺮف ﺣﺠﺮا ﺑِﻤﻜﺔ ﺎﻛن ﻳﺴﻠﻢ ﻲﻠﻋ ﻗﺒﻞ أن أﻧﻌﺚ ِإ‬c‫إ‬
I know a stone in Mecca that used to greet me before I was sent; I know
it now. [Muslim 2277]
And Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
ََ ٌََ َََُْ ْ َ َ َ ََ َْ َ ْ َ َ َ َ 0 َ َ 0 َ َ ْ َ َ ُ 0 0 َ ِّ 0 َ َ ُ ْ ُ
‫ﻛﻨﺖ ﻣﻊ اﺠِﻲﺒ ﺻﻰﻠ اﺑ ﻋﻠﻴِﻪ وﺳﻠﻢ ﺑِﻤﻜﺔ ﻓﺨﺮﺟﻨﺎ ِﻲﻓ ﻧﻌِﺾ ﻧﻮاِﺣﻴﻬﺎ ﻓﻤﺎ اﺳﺘﻘﺒﻠﻪ ﺟﺒﻞ وﻻ‬
0 َ ُ َ َ َ َْ َ ُ َ 0 ُ َُ َ ُ َ 0 ٌ َ َ
‫ﺑ‬ِ ‫ اﻟﺴﻼم ﻋﻠﻴﻚ ﻳﺎ رﺳﻮل ا‬:‫ﺷﺠﺮ ِإﻻ وﻫﻮ ﻓﻘﻮل‬
I was with the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬in Mecca, and we came out to some of its
niches, and there was no mountain or tree that did not greet him saying:
Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. [Tirmithi 3626, Grade: Sahih
(Albani)]

And if you marvel, at the greetings of the inanimate objects and their
longing for him ‫ﷺ‬, marvel at when the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬entered a garden
belonging to a man from the Ansar and saw a camel, which upon seeing
the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬affectionally shed tears. Then the Messenger of Allah
‫ ﷺ‬descended, wiped his chest and back and said: “Who owns this
camel?” A young man from the Ansar came and said: “It is I.” He said:
ُ ُ ْ ُ َ ُ ُ ُ َ 0َ َ َ َ َ 0َ َ َ َ ُ 0 َ َ 0 ُ 0 َ َ 0 َ 0 َ َْ َ َ 0 0َ َ
‫ﺠﺗﻴﻌﻪ وﺗﺪﺋِﺒﻪ‬ ِ ‫أﻻ ﻳﺘِﻲﻘ اﺑ ِﻲﻓ ﻫِﺬهِ اﻛِﻬﻴﻤِﺔ اﻟِﻲﺘ ﻣﻠﻜﻚ اﺑ ِإﻳﺎﻫﺎ ﻓِﺈﻧﻪ ﺷﺎﻜك ِإﻲﻟ وزﻗﻢ أﻧﻚ‬
Do you not fear Allah regarding this animal that Allah has made for you?
For it has complained to me and claimed that you are starving it and
overburdening it. [Abu Dawood 2549, Grade: Sahih (Arnaout)]

Are people not ashamed to hear the magnification of the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬
from animals, while they are incapable of venerating him, leading them to
falter in supporting him and protecting his honor from mockery and
criticism of his Sunnah and his ordainments.

Al-Hasan al-Basri said: “O assembly of Muslims! The wood longs for the
Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬with longing to meet him. You are more
deserving of longing for him.”

So how can the one who does not love him ‫ﷺ‬, long for him?! And how
can the one who does not support him, long for him?! And how can the
one who feels burdened by his commands and prohibitions long for him
?!
We ask Allah to make us among those who love and support the Prophet.
Indeed Allah is All Hearing, Answering.
َ َ َ ْ ُ ُّ َ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ َ َ ُ ّ َ َ َ ُ ّ َ َ ُّ َ َ َ َ
‫ فقال‬, ‫ نب ِي ِكم كما أمركم ب ِذل ِك ربكم‬m ‫هذا وصلوا وسل ِموا‬

I conclude with this and send prayers of blessings and peace upon your
Prophet as your Lord commanded:
ً‫ليَن آَمُنوا َصُّلوا َعَليْهِ َوَس ّل ُِموا ت َْسل ِيما‬ َّ َ ُّ َ َ ّ َّ َ َ َ ُّ َ ُ ُ َ َ َ َ َ َ َّ َّ
ِ ِ ‫ ال‬m ‫ئ ِكته يصلون‬O‫ وم‬+‫إ ِن ا‬
ِ ‫ب ۚ يا أيها ا‬
Al Ahzaab (33) 56: Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and
His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to
confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.
َ‫ت َوَبارْك لا فِيما‬ َ ْ‫ت َوتََوَّلا فِيَمْن تََوَّل‬ َ ْ ‫الَّلُهَّم اْهِدنا فِيَمْن َهَدي‬
َ ْ‫ت َوَعف ِنا فِيَمْن َعَفي‬
ِ
َ‫ يَِذُّل َمْن َواَلْت‬Z
َ ُ َّ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ ُ َ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‫نه‬ƒ ‫ يقض عليك‬Z‫أعطيت وق ِنا ش ما قضيت إ ِنك تقِض و‬
َ‫ت َرَّبَنا َوَتَعاَلْت‬ َ ‫َتَباَرْك‬

O Allah, guide us with those whom You have guided, grant us well-being
among those You have granted well-being, be an ally to us along with
those whom You are an ally to, and bless what You have bestowed upon
us, and save us from the evil of what You have decreed. For verily You
decree and none can decree over You. He whom You support can never be
humiliated. Glory is to You, our Lord, You are Blessed and Exalted.
َ ُ ََُ ََْْ َْ ََ ُْ ْ َ َ َ َ ّ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َّ َّ ُ َّ
‫جل ِهِ ما عل ِمنا ِمنه وما لم نعلم ونعوذ ب ِك‬ ِ ‫جل ِهِ وآ‬ ِ ‫ي ك ِهِ ع‬ ِ ‫اللهم إ ِنا نسألك ِمن ال‬
َ‫ك ِمْن َخْي ما‬ َ ُ َ ْ َ َّ َّ ُ َّ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ ْ َ َ َ َ ّ ُ ّ َّ َ
ِ ‫جل ِهِ ما عل ِمنا ِمنه وما لم نعلم اللهم إ ِنا نسأل‬ ِ ‫ش ك ِهِ ع‬
ِ ‫جل ِهِ وآ‬ ِ ‫ِمن ال‬

‫ش ما عذ ب ِهِ عبدك ونب ِيك اللهم إ ِنا نسألك‬ ِ ‫سألك عبدك ونب ِيك ونعوذ ب ِك ِمن‬
ْ‫ك ِمَن الَّار َوَما َقَّرَب إَلَْها ِمْن َقْول أَو‬ َ ُ ُ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ َ َ َّ َ ْ
ٍ ِ ِ ِ ‫النة وما قرب إ ِلها ِمن قوٍل أو عمٍل ونعوذ ب‬
ً‫ك َقَضاٍء َقَضيَْتُه َلا َخْيا‬ َّ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ
‫عمٍل ونسألك أن تعل‬

O Allah, We ask You for all that is good, in this world and in the Hereafter,
what we know and what we do not know. O Allah, we seek refuge with You
from all evil, in this world and in the Hereafter, what we know and what we
do not know. O Allah, we ask You for the good that Your servant and
Prophet has asked You for, and we seek refuge with You from the evil from
which Your servant and Prophet sought refuge. O Allah, we ask You for
Paradise and for that which brings one closer to it, in word and deed, and
we seek refuge in You from Hell and from that which brings one closer to it,
in word and deed. And we ask You to make every decree that You decree
concerning us good.
َ ْ َْ َ ٰ َ ْ َ َ َٰ ْ ُْ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ُ ْ َ َ َّ َّ ّ َ
‫يتاِء ذِي القرب وينه عِن الفحشاِء‬ƒ ‫ يأمر ب ِالعدِل وا ِلحساِن‬+‫ إ ِن ا‬،ِ+‫ِعَباد ا‬
َ
َ ُ َّ َ َ ْ ُ َّ َ َ ْ ُ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َ
‫ يِعظكم لعلكم تذكرون‬،‫غ‬ ِ ‫والمنكِر وال‬
Servants of Allah. Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving
to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He
admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
ْ َ ْ َ ُ ُ ّ ْ ُ ْ ْ َ ُ ُ ْ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ َ ُ ُ ُ ْ ْ ُ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َّ ُ ُ ْ ُ
‫ العِظيم يذكركم واشكروه يِزدكم واستغِفروه يغِفر لكم واتقوه يعل‬+‫اذكروا ا‬
َ ّ ََ ً َْ ْ ُ َْ ْ ْ ُ َ
‫ة‬O‫ وأق ِِم الص‬، ‫لكم ِمن أمِركم مَرجا‬
Remember Allah, the Great - He will remember you. Thank Him for His favors
- He will increase you therein. And seek forgiveness from Him - He will
forgive you. And be conscious of Him - He will provide you a way out of
difficult matters. And, establish the prayer.
