Hello. I’m writing to tell you about yesterday’s lesson that you missed. Mr. Smith taught us all
about pollution ( who / which / where ) is the contamination of air, water and land by different
materials. I feel very upset because so many people do not care about this serious problem.

Do you know that there is an invisible, protective layer of gas around the earth called the ozone
layer? The ozone layer ( saves / fights / protects ) the earth from the dangerous solar radiation.
But, Mr. Smith ( tell / tells / told ) us that the emissions from industries and engines, including cars,
are big causes ( for / from / of ) air pollution. Indeed, simple things that we usually do at home
have bad effects on the ozone layer.

Water is also suffering from pollution by domestic and industrial waste. It is up to us to stop
( damaging / cleaning / saving ) the environment. What can we do to reduce pollution? Mr. Smith
says we should find ideas to help solve this problem and he wants us ( to design / design /
designing ) a poster for homework. Have you any good ideas?
