2, Causative form:
- We use the causative to say that we have arranged for someone to do something for
us or when referring to an unpleasant experience that happens to somebody(must
use ‘have’ in passive voice). It means that the subject caused the action to happen,
but didn't do it themselves.
a) Have: As a causative verb, we use have to say that someone does something for
us. We generally use this construction when we pay someone to perform a service.
Structure:
1) Active: HAVE + PERSON + VERB (base form) (When you want to say who
did the action)
Examples: - I had the veterinarian vaccinate my dog.
- I will have the electrician fix my lighting.
- I will have my mother repair my trousers.
2) Passive: HAVE + THING + PAST PARTICIPLE(+by someone). (you are
saying that it was not you who did the action, but someone else)
Examples: - I had my hair washed and trimmed. (past)
- Adrian will have his dog vaccinated. (future)
b) Get: Get is more informal than ‘have’, but it means the same thing. When you
get someone to do something, you persuade them to do something, the action being
performed in these sentences is done by someone else.
Structure: get + somebody + full infinitive and the passive form: get + object +
past participle

- Samantha gets her hair coloured twice a year.
