correct arrangement of mathematical
symbols used to represent a
mathematical object of interest.
A mathematical sentence is
the analogue of an English sentence;
it is a correct arrangement of
mathematical symbols that expresses
a complete thought.
Open Sentence vs. Closed Sentence
Open Sentence – the mathematical sentence is
not known whether true or false.

Closed Sentence – that known to be either


true or false. It can be a TRUE CLOSED SENTENCE
and FALSE CLOSED SENTENCE.
