Reading – A Trip to the Grocery Store
Last Saturday morning, Anna and her mother went to the grocery store. The store was big
and bright. Anna pushed the shopping cart while her mother carried the shopping list.
First, they went to the fruits and vegetables section. Anna chose red apples and a bunch of
bananas. Her mother picked carrots, tomatoes, and some lettuce.
Next, they visited the dairy products section. They bought milk, cheese, and yogurt. Anna
saw a big chocolate cake and wanted to put it in the cart, but her mother shook her head.
“We don’t need cake today,” she said.
Then they walked to the frozen foods section. They bought frozen peas, ice cream, and a
pizza for dinner. Anna smiled when she saw the pizza.
Finally, they went to the checkout counter. The cashier scanned all the items and put
them in paper bags. Anna helped carry the bags to the car.
When they got home, they put all the groceries away in the fridge and kitchen cupboards.
“Shopping is hard work,” said Anna. “Yes,” her mother smiled, “but now we have food for
the whole week!”
