John Deere GL-5 Gear Lubricant protects and maintains the service life of a wide
variety of enclosed industrial gearing, including spur, bevel, herringbone and many
worm gears that operate under high-speed, low-torque and low-speed, high-torque
conditions. Gear oils should be changed more frequently in dusty, wet or dirty
operating conditions unless the gear system is properly sealed and equipped with
membrane-type breathers.

GL-5 premium-quality synthetic and mineral oils provide high load gear and bearing
protection, shock-load resistance and rust and corrosion protection. Both types
also have thermal durability to protect gears from physical damage by preventing
the heat-induced failure of anti-wear chemistry. All GL-5 oils meet SAE service
designation J2360.

GL-5 Synthetic Oil also provides thermal stability and oxidation resistance to
keep gears and seals clean by preventing the heat-induced formation of sludge
