About the Conference

The 1 National Conference on Psycho-Gerontology with the theme, “Building an Umbrella of Care:
Weaving Mental Health & Well-being in Ageing Population” addresses the critical intersection of
psychology, mental health and aging. As our population ages, the need for comprehensive mental health
care has never been more urgent. This conference brings together experts in geriatric mental health as
well as other health professionals treating older adults to explore innovative strategies that promote
mental well-being in older adults. Attendees can expect inspiring keynote presentations, interactive
workshops, and valuable networking opportunities. We'll delve into topics such as mental health issues,
cognitive health, grief and loss, elderly abuse, innovations in psychological management, and the role of
community support. By fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, we aim to enhance the
quality of care provided to our aging population.

About the Host and Venue
The Conference is a collaborative academic event organized by the Department of Psychiatry and
Geriatric Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi.
The conference will be held at the JLN Auditorium of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),
New Delhi, which is the largest multi-specialty public hospital and medical college in India. Established in
1956, it has been designated as an Institute of National Importance. In 2025, the institute ranked as the
97th best hospital globally by Newsweek and Statista. It was deemed as the top-most college in India as
per the 2024 NIRF ranking.
In 2023, the National Centre for (NCA) was inaugurated at AIIMS, New Delhi. It is a 200-bedded block
dedicated to the older adults and it boasts of integrated services (OPD and IPD) from various specialities
including Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Surgery,
Anaesthesia, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Gynaecology, Neurology and Cardiology. More
departments are upcoming. The block also has private rooms, day-care beds, Intensive Care Unit and
Operation Theatre services, Physiotherapy Unit along with various other facilities.

General Guidelines for Abstract Submission
The conference is open for students pursuing Psychology and related elds, Clinical Psychologists,
Psychiatrists, Residents and consultants from Geriatric Medicine eld, Practitioners of alternative
healing practices such as Yoga and Naturopathy, Nursing Professionals, Spiritual leaders, NGOs,
Policy-makers and legal services working with geriatric population.
The submissions must reach before the deadline and no requests will be entertained beyond that.
At least one of the authors must be registered for the conference. A Certicate of presentation will be
awarded to the registered author(s).
All submissions must be made through the website. Submissions sent through any other means will
NOT be entertained.
Guidelines: Oral/Poster Presentations
The authors are requested to send abstract of their original papers (not presented or published earlier)
Time of presentation will be 8 minutes plus two-minutes of question-answers.
The paper must have the following heads:
Background, Objectives, Methodology, Results and Key ndings
The corresponding author must certify that the paper follows ethical research practices and is
plagiarism free (Plagiarism must be less than 8%).
Once the abstract is shortlisted, the full-length papers are to be sent once notied. The length of the
paper should not exceed 2000-3000 words.
No changes in the paper title, abstract, authorship, nor submitted document can occur AFTER the
submission deadline.
Guidelines: Symposium
The symposium must adhere to one of the themes and sub-themes
Time allotted to the symposium will be 45 minutes.
The symposium will have no less than 3 and no more than 5 presenters.
Sub-titles and abstracts must be submitted for each individual speaker.
If the authors wish, they can designate a discussant/chairperson for the symposium.
Guidelines: Workshop
The proposed workshop should be designed in a way to give hands-on experience to the participants.
It should be falling into one of the themes of the conference.
The abstract/summary should bring out the need for the workshop, method of conducting the
workshop and expected outcome.
