Dramatic – Group 1

CHARACTERS:

Jan Kiefer Aquino (Charlise's Boyfriend)

Charlise Kathryn Tira (Kiefer's girlfriend)

Princess Larmei Dupayan (Charlise's friend)

Noel Galinato (Charlise’s friend)

Dhenie Claire Anyog (Kiefer's friend)

Charles Realubin (Kiefer's friend)

Gerald Tapec (Kiefer’s friend)

[SETTING: A CLASSROOM FULL OF HEART DECORATIONS]

(The scene opens with Kiefer, Gerald and Charles walking toward their classroom. With Kiefer looking
frustrated.)

CHARLES: Why do you look so down, bro?

KIEFER: (sigh) My girlfriend and I had a fight.

CHARLES: Why? It’s Valentine’s Day, you two should be celebrating, not fighting.

KIEFER: I don’t even know anymore. These past few days have been rough… We keep arguing, and
there’s so much tension between us. (Looks frustrated)

CHARLES: Go talk to her, bro. (Pats him on the back) Clear things up before it gets worse.

GERALD: (Joins in) Yeah, man. Ignoring it will only make things harder. Be honest with her it might help.
(After class, Kiefer heads toward Charlise’s classroom. He finds her with her friends.)

PRINCESS: (Sees Kiefer) We’re heading down first, Charles. We’ll wait for you at the shed.

NOEL: (Notices Kiefer’s presence and leans toward Charlise) Looks like someone’s here to fix things.

CHARLISE: (Also sees Kiefer) Yeah, go ahead, guys. I’ll catch up.

KIEFER: Babe, can we talk?

CHARLISE: So now you decide to talk to me? After everything?

KIEFER: I know I messed up. It’s my fault for making you overthink. But trust me, Dhenie is just a friend.

(DRAMATIC BACKGROUND MUSIC FADES IN)

CHARLISE: Just a friend? Do friends stay up talking until midnight? You keep choosing to spend time with
her instead of being with me when I ask. You can’t even give me the assurance I need, and you expect
me not to react? Wow, Kiefer. Seriously, if I made you choose between me and her, who would it be?

KIEFER: You, always you, babe. You know that.

CHARLISE: (Shakes her head) I don’t know anymore, Kiefer. You’re making me feel like I’d lose every
time. (Starts to walk away)

NOEL: (Steps beside Charlise) You don’t deserve to feel like a second place.

(Kiefer stands there, speechless. Gerald and Charles walks up to him.)

GERALD: Man, you’ve gotta fight for her if she really matters to you. But this time, don’t just say the
words, prove it.

KIEFER: (Nods, determined) I will. I’m not letting her walk away without knowing how much she means
to me. And the first thing that I have to do is talk to Dhenie, I also have to clear things out between us so
that Charlise will not overthink anymore.

CHARLES: Yeah, be a man this time bro.

(BACKGROUND MUSIC FADES OUT)

(The next day, Kiefer meets up with Dhenie in the school)

KIEFER: Hey, Dhenie. Do you have a minute?

DHENIE: (Smiling) Of course, what’s up?

KIEFER: Listen, I need to talk to you about something important. I think I might have unintentionally hurt
Charlise… and part of it is because of how close we’ve been lately.

DHENIE: (Expression softens) I get it. I noticed the tension between you two. I never meant to cause any
problems between you and Charlise.

KIEFER: I know. It’s not your fault. I should’ve set boundaries earlier. I need to focus on fixing things with
her, she’s the one I love.

DHENIE: (Nods understandingly) I respect that, Kiefer. I’ll give you both some space. But if you ever need
a friend, I’ll be here—just as a friend.

KIEFER: Thank you, Dhenie. You’ve been a great friend. I appreciate your understanding.
(Dhenie walks away, with a sigh she said)

Dhenie: If that what makes you happy then I’ll avoid you, even though if it will leave me heartbroken.
(smiles painfully)

(Kiefer determined to make things right. Later that day, he finds Charlise alone near the school
garden.)

KIEFER: (Approaches cautiously) Charlise?

CHARLISE: (Coldly) What do you want, Kiefer?

KIEFER: I talked to Dhenie. I cleared things up with her—there’s nothing between us except friendship,
and there never was anything more.

CHARLISE: (Looks away) Words are easy, Kiefer. Actions are harder.

KIEFER: (Steps closer, voice soft) I know. That’s why I’m here, not just to apologize but to show you how
much you mean to me. I should’ve made you feel secure from the beginning. I was careless, and I hurt
you. But I’m ready to fight for you now—for us.

CHARLISE: (Tears welling up) And what if I’m too tired of fighting?

KIEFER: Then I’ll keep trying until you believe me again. I don’t want anyone else, Charlise. It’s always
been you.

(There’s a long pause. Charlise looks at him, searching for sincerity in his eyes.)

CHARLISE: (Softly) If you mean it, prove it. No more broken promises.

KIEFER: I swear, no more doubts, no more letting you feel second place.
(Charlise steps closer, and they hug tightly, both on the verge of tears.)

CHARLISE: I just needed to know I was your priority.

KIEFER: You always have been and always will be.

(Suddenly, Charles, Noel, Gerald, Princess, and Dhenie appear from a distance, smiling as they watch
the two reconcile.)

CHARLES: (Teasing) About time, bro!

GERALD: Guess someone finally grew up.

NOEL: (To Charlise, smiling) Looks like you made the right choice after all.

PRINCESS: Finally a happy ending

(Kiefer and Charlise share a warm smile as they walk back to their friends, hand in hand.)
