Prepare a review of the poem Any Woman
'Any Woman’ is a poem written by the famous Irish writer Katherine
Tynan. The poem celebrates the glory of womanhood. It tells us about the
role and importance of a woman in a family. The speaker is a
woman/mother .
A woman plays an important role in making the house alive. The poet
uses many metaphors to make her points effective. A woman has been
compared to the pillars of the house, keystone of the arch, fire upon the
hearth ,the heat and light of the sun, Knot of love etc. Without a woman, the
home would be lifeless and colder than a stone. The entire house will be
ruined in her absence. The poem also discusses the countless jobs she
perform at home. She also stands as a wall and a door to protect her family
from all dangers . She is all over the house. She binds her children together
with the string of love and holds her family together.
The poem concludes with her request to God not to take her away till her
children grow. This shows the depth of maternal love. Women doing
countless jobs and standing guard at the same time make us admire her
capabilities. The poem gives us a strong message that the women who
protect her family from all dangers should also be protected . This theme is
most relevant in the modern world where womanhood is tampered and
tarnished mercilessly.
