■ Values-Based Reflection Exercise ■

Step 1: Core Values Check

Look at these values—circle (or mentally note) the ones that feel most important to you: - Growth /
Learning - Financial Security - Helping Others - Independence / Freedom - Stability - Recognition /
Respect - Family / Relationships - Creativity - Spirituality / Meaning - Adventure / Exploration ■
Choose the 3–4 values that matter the most to you right now.

Step 2: How Your Profession Aligns

For each chosen value, ask: - Does being a therapist help me live this value? - Or does the way I’m
working right now block this value?

Step 3: The Long-Term Vision

Close your eyes and imagine: - You’ve finished MPhil. - You’re working in a way that suits you—fair
pay, holidays, freedom, meaningful sessions. - What do you feel in that life? Relief? Pride?
Fulfillment? ■ Write down a few words that describe that vision.

Step 4: The Gap

Now, ask: - What’s the biggest gap between where I am now and that future vision? - Is it money,
environment, support, confidence, or something else?

Step 5: Small Next Step

Pick one tiny action (just 10 minutes this week) that moves you slightly closer to your values. - If
value = Financial Security → review your fees or set aside ■100 savings. - If value = Growth →
read 1 page of a therapy article. - If value = Independence → block 30 minutes of protected 'my
time.'
