1. Introduction and Background
Infinity Tutors is an academic support initiative founded in 2021 by students of the Malawi University
of Science and Technology (MUST). Initially established as a peer-to-peer tutoring platform, its
mission was to address the academic challenges faced by many students—particularly in mathematics,
science, engineering, and technology modules. The platform began informally, helping fellow students
navigate difficult coursework, and has since grown into a structured and widely respected academic
support body within the university.
In the early stages of its development, Infinity Tutors provided the foundational structure and inspi-
ration for what would later become the MUST Applied and Computational Mathematics Society—a
registered student academic society with the goal of promoting mathematical application and re-
search across all scientific disciplines. While the society formally emerged through the university’s
channels, Infinity Tutors had already been operating and offering valuable support services. The
society has since worked in close collaboration with Infinity Tutors, sharing objectives, resources,
and vision.
As co-founders and leaders of both Infinity Tutors and the Mathematics Society, we have seen
the substantial impact of these initiatives on student success. Infinity Tutors has not only helped
students grasp complex academic material but has also empowered them through mentorship, soft
skills development, and research exposure. The initiative has been particularly effective during
high-pressure periods such as the academic year transitions and supplemental examination phases.
Now, as we prepare to graduate on July 24th, 2025, we recognize the pressing need to ensure
continuity and sustainability of the work we began. Our departure from the university creates a
leadership gap that may affect the consistency and quality of the tutoring services students have
come to rely on. Many current students, including society members, have expressed concern about
this gap and have urged us to continue supporting their academic development.
This proposal, therefore, seeks to formally request permission from the university administration to
allow the Infinity Tutors team—now transitioning into MUST alumni—to continue using designated
campus spaces (particularly classrooms) after hours for the purpose of delivering tutoring, mentor-
ship, and academic support services. We also aim to assist in the operational sustainability of the
MUST Mathematics Society and continue fostering academic excellence through supervised research
and innovation.
We strongly believe this partnership will be of mutual benefit. Through this continued collaboration,
the university will retain access to an experienced, passionate team of educators who are familiar with
the MUST academic environment and are committed to uplifting the performance and confidence
of future cohorts. At the same time, Infinity Tutors will be able to extend its mission of making
quality tutoring accessible and affordable while giving back to the institution that shaped us.
2. Vision and Objectives
The vision of Infinity Tutors is to foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and collaborative
learning within and beyond the Malawi University of Science and Technology. We believe that
consistent, accessible, and affordable academic support can significantly enhance students’ success
and confidence, especially in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines
where many students often struggle.
Our broader mission is to build a reliable academic support ecosystem that not only aids students in
mastering course content but also equips them with critical thinking skills, digital proficiency, and
the academic confidence necessary for both university success and professional readiness.
As we transition from students to alumni, our objectives are as follows:
– To continue delivering affordable, high-quality academic support to MUST students—especially
those in their first and second years.
– To provide structured tutoring sessions that strengthen students’ grasp of key STEM modules,
including mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering-related courses.
– To facilitate peer mentoring and soft-skill development, including communication, research meth-
ods, programming, and data analysis.
– To support the operational continuity of the MUST Applied and Computational Mathematics
Society by offering advisory, technical, and academic mentorship.
– To create a sustainable framework where future Infinity Tutors can be recruited, trained, and
supported by alumni.
– To extend access to tutoring services beyond MUST by exploring community-level outreach and
online support models.
These objectives align closely with MUST’s broader vision of producing globally competitive gradu-
ates equipped with practical skills, critical thinking, and research capabilities. Our initiative serves
as an extension of that vision, bridging the gap between academic theory and practice while offering
targeted support to students who need it most.
We firmly believe that our presence and continued support will enhance the university’s learning
environment, reduce student failure rates, and cultivate a culture of academic independence and
collaboration.
3. Achievements and Impact
Over the past four years, Infinity Tutors has grown into a recognized and dependable academic sup-
port platform at the Malawi University of Science and Technology. Our work has directly contributed

positive testimonials on the impact of our services. Many have credited Infinity Tutors for help-
ing them pass key modules they previously struggled with. In some cases, parents have also
commended the progress and confidence observed in their children.
– Skill Development and Entrepreneurship: In addition to academic impact, the initiative has
helped tutors gain soft skills, leadership experience, and income through responsible entrepreneur-
ship. This has made Infinity Tutors a model for student-led, socially driven innovation at MUST.
Collectively, these achievements show that Infinity Tutors is more than a tutoring group—it is a well-
organized, mission-driven platform that has consistently delivered value to students, the university,
and the broader academic community.
4. Proposed Operations
Infinity Tutors operates with a clear and structured timetable designed to complement—not in-
