ONE SIDE

DE BAI: Some people think that there is a great influence of news media on
people’s lives and this is a negative development. Do you agree or disagree
with this statement? Give your opinion and relevant examples.
For many people, news is a regular part of life. An issue in dispute is whether
the massive influence of the news media on people’s daily lives denotes a
negative development. It is my view that news media does more good than harm
to society.
Main body - Paragraph 1 (Đoạn thân bài 1)
main idea: The news media provides people with much of the information they
need on a timely basis, although there are claims that it reports on issues and
events purposely (only selecting those events that interest the audience).
Explanation: Anecdotal evidence shows that people from all walks of life have
the habit of collecting information regularly from the news media, including
print, broadcast and Internet-based media. Information assists people in decision
making
Example: For example, the Free Trade Agreement reached by the Chinese
government and its New Zealand counterpart might open up many opportunities
to both countries. For any businessperson, either in New Zealand or in China,
failing to recognize and capitalize on this impending change would cause a
costly loss.
Main body - Paragraph 2 (Đoạn thân bài 2)
main idea: Meanwhile it should be recognised that the news media can
sometimes save lives and reduce casualties.
Explanation: There is a lot of uncertainty about the surroundings, and people
are susceptible to the damage caused by accidents, crimes and natural calamity.
The news media conveys the firsthand information to concerned audiences and
enables them to take corresponding actions right away.
Example: The authority can declare a state of emergency when it is necessary,
organize evacuation and distribute aid to the needy areas. All these efforts count
on the news media as the messenger.
Conclusion
In summary, the role of news media as an information provider should be
acknowledged. In case of emergency, it acts as a lifesaver. However, it is not to
say that the news media can give people an overall view of the problems in
society all the time.
NEUTRAL
Task 2: We cannot help everyone in the world who needs help, so we should only be
concerned with our own communities and countries. Do you agree or disagree with
this statement?

There is a standpoint that assisting disadvantaged people in the world can be

challenging; ergo, people should only care for their own communities and countries.
Notwithstanding several justifications of this opinion, I personally hold the outlook
that supporting other neighbouring countries should not be neglected.

Body 1:

Topic sentence: To begin with, only concerning their own hometowns and countries
presents several justifications.
Main idea 1: One of which would be that there are still various concerns that their
countries still have priority to tackle.
Example: An example of this would be the education aspect, especially in
mountainous areas of Vietnam where many children are still illiterate and incapable of
developing in a high-quality educational environment; ergo, appointing teachers to
teaching posts in disadvantaged areas would be more reasonable.
Main idea 2; Additionally, the distribution of mineral resources to other countries
may jeopardize several alarming aspects which are necessarily tackled in their nation.
Explain: To elaborate, this may engender the scarcity of mineral raw materials which
are of paramount importance in the manufacturing process, thereby detrimentally
influencing the manual economy.

Body 2:
Topic sentence: However, I personally hold the outlook that global affairs can also
exert many positive impacts.
Main idea 1: Firstly, supporting neighbouring countries may serve as a catalyst for
establishment of sustainable relationships and long-term collaborations.
Example; For example, when COVID-19 dominated in the world, Vietnam
enthusiastically gave financial assistance to disadvantaged nations such as Laos and
provided a wide range of medical equipment including face masks, virus test kits...
thereby ameliorating the healthcare quality and preventing people’s well-being from
ailment.
Main idea 2: Additionally, international affairs can also afford countries a vehicle for
solving some alarming problems concurrently.
Explain: To exemplify, allocating competent human resources to international
corporations might create more job opportunities for national employees as well as
solve the workforce’s deficiency in other nations simultaneously.

Conclusion:

To recapitulate, albeit with several reasons, I personally believe that it is worthwhile

to lend our support to other countries as much as we could.
