• Injection Lorazepam 6 mg , IV slowly
Direction :- Administer 3 ml ( 6 mg ) diluted in 6 ml distill water , intravenously slowly ( Slow
bolus ) at the rate of 3 ml / minute ( i.e. 2 mg / min ) . Watch for rate and amplitude of respiration

Direction :- Dilute 1200 mg Fosphenytoin ( Fosphenytoin 75 mg is equal to 50 mg
Phenytoin ) i.e. 16 ml ( 8 ampoules ) in 34 ml normal saline in 50 ml disposable
syringe and administer it intravenously at the rate of 6 ml / minute ( i.e. 150 mg /
minute intravenous infusion ).

Direction: Start maintenance dose of phenytoin 12 hours after administering loading

complaints of light headedness, nausea, increasing

• Gastric lavage through nasogastric tube alternate with
activated charcoal 50 gm and 2 % potassium
permanganate in 500 ml of water.
