TASK 1. B.

Relevance of Critical Thinking is important in our daily lives because it will help understand the message
effectively. Critical thinking is necessary to evaluate the information, improve reasoning and problem-
solving skills. After evaluating the message, we can form a better judgment because if we read critically,
we think critically. As a student, critical thinking will help me in making better decisions especially to the
information in the internet. Through the use of critical thinking, I can evaluate the information and
identify whether it is an opinion or a fact that is well-supported with evidences.

The opposing view is that the government is allowed to impose death penalty for heinous crimes.
However, I don’t agree with it because it is a sin. Jesus famously states, “let he who is without sin throw
the first stone”, it only means that death penalty should not be carried out. Pope Francis also declared the
death penalty “inadmissible” because it should not be used in any circumstances. Additionally, according
to Exodus 21:13, “Thou shalt not kill” because only God should create and destroy life.

Getting vaccinated is essential in this time of pandemic and I agree that no COVID-19 vaccine will make
the opening of classes useless. According to World Health Organization, “safe and effective vaccines are
available that provide strong protection against serious illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
It will help to protect oneself and prevent the spread of the virus.

The opposing view is that Senator Marcos is complicated for saying that she is against same sex marriage.
However, I don’t agree with it because she is only stating her own opinion. Furthermore, according to
Christians, same sex marriage goes against the biblical conception of marriage and sexuality.

TASK 3

1. Claim of value because it talks about character.

2. Claim of fact because it can be proven.
3. Claim of policy because it talks about rules and regulations.
4. Claim of fact because it is well-supported with evidences and can be proven.

TASK 3
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a mild to severe respiratory disease caused by a severe acute
respiratory syndrome 2. It is mainly transmitted by a contact with infectious material such as respiratory
droplets or with the objects contaminated by the causative virus. The most common symptoms are having
a fever, cough, tiredness and loss of taste or smell that can lead to pneumonia, other organ failure and
possible death (World Health Organization, (2021). In December 2019, the first known COVID-19 case
was identified in Wuhan, China. The disease has become prevalent worldwide that leads to an ongoing
pandemic and affects the lives of all people especially the Filipinos.
Countless lockdowns have been imposed that affects the economy of our country. Our lives change
especially the students like me. To minimize the spread of virus, the government implemented the
distance learning that resulted to difficulties in adjusting to the sudden changes. Now that we slowly
solved our problems, let’s end the COVID-19 Pandemic by getting vaccinated. According to GMA News
Online, the Department of Education (DepEd) is proposing to open School Year 2022-2023 on August
22, 2022 using blended learning with more face-to-face classes. Thus, we should prepare and get
vaccinated especially to the students to protect ourselves and limit the spread of the virus. We can ensure
our safety and learn effectively.
Our lives altered because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It leads to various hardships that challenges us
to the point that it is difficult to continue living. However, we can overcome all of that by following the
rules and regulations implemented by the government. As a student, by having more face-to-face classes
and getting vaccinated, we can gradually comeback to our normal lives before and improve our learning
environment.
