Moorea Humpback Whale Expedition
Mo’orea is one of the most scenically striking islands in French Polynesia.
Located less than 20 Miles from Tahiti, Moorea is the second largest island in the Society Archipelago.
Its name refers to ancient beliefs and marvelous stories: the island owes its name to a yellow (= rea)
lizard (= mo’o) abandoned by its parents and washed ashore. A land of stories and legends, it is the
gateway to Polynesian culture. Its natural landscapes are of great beauty and are enhanced by discreet
and quality tourist infrastructures. The island that is called the “sister island” of Tahiti is also very easy
to access via a 30-60 min ferry ride.

to breed and give birth. French Polynesia is one of the few places in the world where you
can swim with humpback whales. All captains and guides have undergone safety and
regulatory training and provide an ethical and safe experience with whales to minimize any
disruption in their behavior. Behavior is carefully observed and the guide makes the
decision when we are able to carefully enter the water.
