MOTORCYCLE REPAIR SHOP TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

TOOL/EQUIPMENT DEFINITION PICTURE

An adjustable wrench is a versatile tool

used to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts
with its adjustable jaw, allowing it to
ADJUSTABLE accommodate a wide range of sizes. To
WRENCH use, open the wrench's jaw to fit the nut,
tighten the screw mechanism to secure it
around the nut and turn the wrench
clockwise to tighten or counter-clockwise
to loosen the nut.

A ratchet is a mechanical device that

allows continuous linear or rotary motion
in only one direction while preventing
motion in the opposite direction. It is
RATCHET ingeniously designed to achieve this
through a combination of a gear or a
linear rack with a pawl that engages the
teeth of the gear or rack, allowing
movement in one direction and
obstructing it in the other.

1
a hand tool for turning a screw, consisting
SCREWDRIVERS of a handle attached to a long, narrow
shank, usually of metal, which tapers and
flattens out to a tip that fits into the
slotted head of a screw.

PLIERS A hand-operated tool

for holding and gripping small articles or
for bending and cutting wire.
`

Vernier Caliper is a precision measuring

instrument used to measure the internal
VERNIER CALIPER and external dimensions of an object. This
is a device that is used to measure very
smaller values and it can measure the
value in the range of 0.1 mm.

2
A tool used for opening gaps, separating
PRY BAR timbers that have been previously joined
together, or forcing components apart.
Where two pieces of timber are nailed or
fixed together, and they can be prised
apart, the bar is worked into a gap and
moved backwards and forwards forcing
the components apart.

A pipe expander is a tool used to enlarge

the diameter of a pipe, allowing two
EXHAUST PIPE sections of pipe to fit together more easily
EXPANDER during repairs, modifications, or
installations. It is commonly used in
exhaust system work, plumbing, and
automotive applications.

3
An oxygen sensor wrench is a specialized
tool designed to remove and install
OXYGEN SENSOR oxygen sensors in a vehicle’s exhaust
WRENCH system. Oxygen sensors, often called O2
sensors, are crucial components that
measure the amount of oxygen in the
exhaust gases, helping to regulate the
engine's air-fuel mixture for optimal
performance and reduced emissions.

A bench vise is a tool used to hold a

BENCH VISE specific object and perform different
operations, such as drilling, milling, filing,
sawing, and so on

A band saw machine is a power tool that

uses a long, continuous band of toothed
metal to cut various materials, such as
metal, wood, or plastic. The band runs
BAND SAW over two or more wheels to provide a
MACHINE smooth, uniform cutting action. Band
saws are commonly used in fabrication,
woodworking, and metalworking for
making precise cuts, and they come in
different sizes and styles depending on
their purpose.

4
An angle grinder, also known as a side
ANGLE GRINDER grinder or disc grinder, is a handheld
power tool used for grinding (abrasive
cutting) and polishing.

A pipe bending machine is a specialized

tool designed to bend pipes and tubes
into various angles and shapes without
PIPE BENDING causing them to collapse, crack, or
MACHINE deform. These machines are commonly
used in industries like plumbing,
automotive exhaust fabrication, and
construction to form pipes into specific
configurations for custom installations or
repairs.

An air compressor is a mechanical device

that converts power (using an electric
motor, diesel, or gasoline engine) into
AIR COMPRESSOR potential energy stored in pressurized air
(compressed air). It does this by forcing
air into a storage tank, increasing the air's
pressure. When needed, the compressed
air can be released for various
applications.

5
A pneumatic motorcycle lift is a type of
lift designed to raise motorcycles off the
PNEUMATIC ground for easier access during
MOTORCYCLE LIFT maintenance, repairs, or modifications. It
operates using compressed air
(pneumatics) to lift the motorcycle,
making the job more comfortable and
efficient for mechanics.

An MIG welder (Metal Inert Gas welder) is

a type of welding machine that uses a
continuous wire feed and an inert gas to
MIG WELDER weld metal. It’s also known as Gas Metal
Arc Welding (GMAW). MIG welding is
widely used because it’s efficient, easy to
learn, and produces strong, clean welds.

A weld screen is a safety barrier used in

welding environments to protect workers
WELD SCREEN and bystanders from the hazards
associated with welding. It shields people
from the intense light, heat, and sparks
produced during the welding process.

6
A fire extinguisher is a portable device
used to put out or control small fires. It is
filled with an extinguishing agent that can
FIRE EXTINGUISHER interrupt the combustion process, and it
typically consists of a cylinder, a nozzle,
and a trigger mechanism. Fire
extinguishers are crucial for fire safety in
various settings, including homes, offices,
and industrial environments like
workshops and repair shops.

A welding helmet is a protective gear

worn by welders to shield their face and
eyes from the intense light, heat, and
WELDING HELMET harmful radiation generated during
welding processes. It is a crucial piece of
personal protective equipment (PPE) that
helps prevent injuries and long-term
damage associated with exposure to
welding arcs.

Welding gloves are specialized protective

gear designed to protect the hands and
WELDING GLOVES forearms of welders from heat, sparks,
and electrical hazards associated with
welding processes. They are a critical part
of personal protective equipment (PPE) in
any welding operation.

7
Safety glasses are protective eyewear
designed to shield the eyes from various
hazards encountered in work
SAFETY GLASSES environments, such as those found in
manufacturing, construction, and welding
shops. They are a critical part of personal
protective equipment (PPE) and are
essential for ensuring eye safety.

Earmuffs are a type of personal protective

equipment (PPE) designed to protect the
ears from excessive noise and potential
EARMUFFS hearing damage. They are commonly used
in various environments, including
construction sites, factories, shooting
ranges, and during activities like
woodworking or metalworking.

Respirators are protective devices

designed to cover the mouth and nose (or
the entire face) to filter out harmful
RESPIRATORS substances from the air, such as dust,
fumes, vapors, gases, and biological
agents. They are essential in various
settings, including workplaces, healthcare
facilities, and during emergencies, to
safeguard against inhaling hazardous
airborne contaminants.

8
Flame Resistant Clothing (FRC) is
specially designed apparel made from
materials that resist ignition and burning,
FLAME RESISTANT providing a protective barrier against
CLOTHING AND flames, heat, and thermal hazards. This
COVERALLS type of clothing is crucial for workers in
industries where exposure to fire or
extreme heat is a risk, such as welding,
firefighting, electrical work, and certain
manufacturing environments.

Safety Boots are protective footwear

designed to safeguard the feet in
hazardous work environments. These
SAFETY BOOTS boots are commonly used in industries
such as construction, manufacturing,
warehousing, and other sectors where
foot injuries are a risk. They provide a
combination of comfort, support, and
protection against various hazards.
