Long Integration Icon

Long Integration Period (64 frames)

A small discharge may not be readily visible due its signal
not being discernable from noise in a given frame.
Long Integration sums the intensity values of successive
frames. Constant signal at a given location will quickly
sum to higher intensity that locations experiencing
random noise only.

The Long Integration Period sets the number of frames

over which to summate the pixel intensities.

Moving the camera while using LI will spread the signal

from the small discharge over more pixels reduce
intensity and the likelihood of detection.
Moving the camera will also cause the blobs of large
discharges to smear.
