Phase 1 – Immediate Containment (Day 1–2)

[ ] Declutter carefully; bag clothing/bedding immediately.
[ ] Isolate the bed 6 inches from walls.
[ ] Remove and bag all bedding for treatment.
[ ] Install bed bug interceptors under each bed leg.
[ ] Mark infested zones (mattress seams, furniture cracks, baseboards).

Phase 2 – Kill Existing Bugs (Day 2–7)

[ ] Wash all bedding/clothes in hot water (≥120°F).
[ ] Dry on high heat for 30 minutes minimum.
[ ] Steam mattresses, box springs, furniture seams, and baseboards (≥200°F).
[ ] Vacuum with HEPA filter; dispose of bag immediately.
[ ] Use a portable heat chamber for delicate items.

Phase 3 – Apply Residual Protection (Week 1–2)

[ ] Lightly dust diatomaceous earth or silica dust along baseboards, behind
outlets, and inside bed frame joints.
[ ] Apply EPA-approved bed bug-specific spray to cracks/crevices (not bedding).

[ ] Install mattress and box spring encasements (keep sealed for at least 1 year).
[ ] Seal cracks in walls, floors, and furniture.

Phase 5 – Monitoring & Follow-Up (Month 1–3)

[ ] Reapply dust if disturbed.
[ ] Repeat steaming/vacuuming every 7–10 days for at least 6 weeks.

Phase 6 – Long-Term Prevention

[ ] Use interceptors permanently on beds and couches.
[ ] Inspect luggage after travel; heat-treat contents before bringing inside.
[ ] Minimize clutter in sleeping areas.
