On 31st March 2024, the cash book of M/s Sharma Traders showed an overdraft of ₹
15,250. You are required to prepare a Bank Reconciliation Statement as on that date
from the following particulars:
1. Cheques deposited into the bank on 30th March worth ₹ 5,500 were credited by
the bank only on 2nd April 2024.
2. A cheque for ₹ 8,000 was issued to a supplier on 29th March, but was
presented for payment on 1st April 2024.
3. Bank charges of ₹ 250 and interest on overdraft of ₹ 400 were debited by the
bank, but the bank statement showed these entries as ₹ 250 and ₹ 400
respectively, while the accountant incorrectly recorded them as ₹ 520 and ₹ 40
in the cash book.
4. A customer deposited ₹ 2,000 directly into the bank account, but this was
omitted from the cash book.
5. A cheque of ₹ 1,500 deposited into the bank was dishonoured. This was
correctly entered in the passbook, but in the cash book, the accountant
incorrectly recorded it as a payment made by the firm.
6. The debit side of the bank column in the cash book was overcast by ₹ 1,000.
CASH BOOK
Enter the following transactions in a Two-Column Cash Book (Cash and Bank
Columns) for the month of April 2024.
April 2024:
1. April 1: Cash in Hand ₹ 15,000, Bank Overdraft ₹ 5,000.
2. April 3: Purchased goods for ₹ 8,000 from Rahul and paid him in cash, availing
a 5% cash discount.
3. April 5: Sold goods for ₹ 10,000. Out of this, ₹ 4,000 was received in cash and
immediately deposited into the bank. The balance was received by cheque.
4. April 8: Received a cheque for ₹ 7,500 from Suresh and immediately deposited
it. An allowance of ₹ 500 was given to him.
5. April 10: A cheque for ₹ 3,000 received from Mohan was endorsed to Karan in
full settlement of his account of ₹ 3,100.
6. April 12: Paid salaries of ₹ 4,000 in cash. Out of this, ₹ 1,000 was paid to the
proprietor's son for his work as an employee.
After recording the transactions, balance the Cash Book.
SUSIDIARY BOOKS
From the following transactions of M/s Jain Electronics, prepare the Purchases Book,
Sales Book, Returns Inward Book, and Returns Outward Book for the month of April
2024. All goods are subject to GST @ 18% (9% CGST and 9% SGST).

1. April 2: Purchased from S.M. Traders, on credit, Invoice No. 121:

5. April 18: We returned to S.M. Traders 1 Refrigerator (purchased on April 2) as it
was found to be defective. A Debit Note was issued.
6. April 22: Sold goods for cash to a customer for ₹ 20,000. Cash discount of 5%
was allowed.
7. April 25: Purchased from New Tech Ltd. on credit, Invoice No. 456:
