INTELLIGENCES

WHAT IS MULTIPLE
INTELLIGENCES ?
What is Multiple Intelligences?
Multiple intelligences refers to a
theory describing the different ways
students learn and acquire
information. These multiple
intelligences range from the use of
words, numbers, pictures and music,
to the importance of social
interactions, introspection, physical
movement and being in tune with
nature
HOWARD GARDNER
Howard Gardner is an American
psychologist and professor at the
Harvard Graduate School of
Education. He is best known for his
theory of multiple intelligences, which
suggests that there are eight distinct
intellectual abilities or "intelligences"
that people use to learn and
understand the world:
What are the 8 Multiple
Inteliggences ?
Existential Intelligence
Logical-Mathematical Intelligence
(number/reasoning smart)
Linguistic (spoken and written smart)
Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (body smart)
Musical Intelligence (music smart)
Interpersonal Intelligence (people smart)
Intrapersonal Intelligence (self-smart)
Naturalist intelligence (nature smart)
Interpersonal intelligence
-is the ability to understand and
interact effectively with others. It
involves effective verbal and
nonverbal communication, the
ability to note distinctions among
others, sensitivity to the moods
and temperaments of others, and
the ability to entertain multiple
perspectives
Logical-Mathematical Intelligence
- is the ability to analyze
situations or problems logically,
identify solutions, conduct
scientific research, and easily
solve logical/mathematical
operations. It is one of the eight
multiple intelligence types
proposed by Howard Gardner.
MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE
The ability to accurately perceive
and/or produce acts of sound,
rhythm, tone and melody. People
with strong Musical Intelligence
have an aptitude for learning
and playing musical instruments,
singing, identifying melodies and
rhythms, differentiating different
sounds and instruments.
Lunguistic Intelligence
- one of Howard Gardner's eight
multiple intelligences, involves the
ability to understand and use
spoken and written language.This
can include expressing yourself
effectively through speech or the
written word as well as showing a
facility for learning foreign
tongues.
Intrapersonal intelligence
It is the capacity to understand
oneself and one's thoughts and
feelings, and to use such
knowledge in planning and
directioning one's life. Intra-
personal intelligence involves
not only an appreciation of the
self, but also of the human
condition.
Naturalistic intelligence
-is the ability to identify, observe,
categorize, understand, and
manipulate natural elements like
plants, animals, and the
environment. People with high
naturalistic intelligence are
interested in nurturing, exploring,
and learning about the
environment and other species
Existential intelligence
It refers to deep sensitivity
and people's ability to
handle deep questions
such as the meaning of
existence, it's one of the
most complex of the eight
types of intelligence listed
in Gardner's research
Body kinesthetic intelligence
-is the capacity to
manipulate objects and
use a variety of physical
skills. This intelligence
also involves a sense of
timing and the perfection
of skills through mind–
body union.
WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES IN
EDUCATION?
Multiple intelligences encourage the
development of creativity and problem-
solving skills. Educators can provide
opportunities for students to express
themselves artistically, engage in open-
ended projects, and tackle real-world
problems using their unique intelligences
