RISE OF SUCIDE RATE AMONG PRESENT GENERATION

ABSTRACT

Suicide is a major public health issue, with an estimated one million deaths
worldwide each year. This abstract examines the epidemiology of suicide,
including its prevalence, associated risk factors, and potential protective factors. It
is also reviews the available interventions for suicide preventions and reviews
evidence for their efficiency. The main aim of choosing this topic is to reduce the
range of suicides. In this research I vaguely explain about the importance of life.
We don’t have the right to conclude our life. If you are affected by suicidal
thoughts just share that related problems with your friends, colleagues or family
members . In my research I clearly explain that suicide is not the only solution to
end a problem, many ways are there to end your problems just search one best
solution or else you have to move on from that particular problem, distract yourself
and do some favorite thing you like to do. Absence of proper counseling will leads
to commit a suicide so you have to share all your worries with your closed one and
get some beneficiaries from them. Instead of thinking how to commit suicide, you
have to think about how to left out these problems and how to recover yourself
from these issues as soon as possible. “Nothing more like your life”. Life is like a
treasure and it is more unpredictable one. Everyone has different kinds of
unbearable problems but they broke the word unbearable and they faced a lot of
problems and move on they didn’t have a thought about committing suicide. So
avoid those negative thoughts and remember this slogan “Do what you love, love
what you have” and just move on.

KEY WORDS: Self-murder, Mental illness, Expectation, failure, Cowards,

Committing suicide.

INTRODUCTION

People may commit suicide in critical situations like family issues, relationship failure, physical
disablement, body shaming, financial crisis, educational burden, mental illness and so on.
Nowadays many youths will engage in suicide because of the relationship issues. This issue
begins with addiction and later some break ups occur they can’t bear that pain due to the
addiction and they started a thought to commit a suicide. They blindly took a decision and they
didn’t thought about their family members. In ancient days Greece, Egypt and Rome were not
allowed to commit a suicide. Nowadays many cinefield individuals have committed a suicide
and the reason of such suicides are completely hidden and many gossips are to be spread in
social medias. Suicide may used as a blackmail sometimes and it is mostly done by parents to
their children. Most of them told that cowards only committing suicide, according to my point of
view I said no because some brave people also often commit suicide due to the high level of
frustration and vexation. Many suicides are occurring due to the expectation failure. When
government of India implemented the NEET examination many students are indulge in the
activity of suicide. Inferiority complex (comparison of economic status with others, skin tone,
body shaming etc..,) also leads to suicide. A person who had indulge in debt burden like he/she
get loan and they didn’t able to return it back they couldn’t bear that burden and they decided to
commit a suicide. Intolerance of body pain, affected by disease and so on may also make a
person to engaged in suicide. Adolescence are indulge more in the concept of suicide. We know
suicide process can take weeks, months or even years, the fatal transition from suicidal ideation
and suicide attempts to an actual completed suicide often occurs immediately. Young people
who committing suicide is poorer problems mostly they couldn’t get a proper counseling from
their parents or friends they thought like they indulge in a huge problem and then they
committing a suicide. Many movies are tempting a person to committing suicide. The youngsters
hear the suicidal ideas from somewhere and then they tempted to do that kind of activities.
Adolescence who are engaged in sexual harassment had thought about conclude their lives they
didn’t disclose those problems with their parents because they feel embarrassing to share this
with their parents, they mentally disturbed a lot by thinking that thing randomly and decided to
commit a suicide. Parents should conduct friendly relationship with their children it could help
the children to share many things to their parents. Suicidal ideation, intent to die attempt and
death are the levels of suicide. Columbia suicide severity rating scale(CSSRS), On-call acute
psychiatric service, national suicide prevention lifeline(1-800-273-8255) are some of the sample
safety protocol elements for suicide. Past suicide attempt increases risk for a subsequent attempts
or suicide, multiple prior attempts dramatically increase risk. Parents should know about every
moves of their children. If their children indulge in some pathetic situations the parents shouldn’t
allow their children to be isolated. The parents should convey the worth of living to their
children having no reason to go on living, making a will or giving away personal possessions,
exhibiting reckless behaviors like excessive alcohol or drug consumption, avoiding social
interactions with others, appearing anxious or agitated, making a plan or researching ways to die,
withdrawing from friends, saying good bye, giving away important items, taking dangerous risks
such as driving extremely fast, displaying extreme mood swings, eating or sleeping less,
extremely sad, hopeless, having no reason to live . The youngsters may think like “instead of
being a burden to our parents we will conclude our lives”. But this is actually a worst state of
mind they should talk to their parents about what is running on their mind. Suicide is a complex
issue with many potential causes and contributing factors. It is typically defined as the
intentional and voluntary taking of one’s own life. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the
United States, with over 45,000 people dying by suicide each year. While suicide is a serious
public health problem, it is essential to remember that suicide is preventable. It is important to be
aware of the warning signs of suicide and to understand the risk factors that can increase an
individuals risk for suicide.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Suicide

BMJ: British Medical Journal, Vol.308, No.6920(Jan 1,1994),

The researcher compare the countries which are indulge in the concept of
committing suicide. Since 1985 overall suicide rates in the Netherlands have dropped by 10%
with the fall. Suicide rate in France is among highest in Europe being 20-1 per 100000 in 1992.
British government has set two targets for reducing the suicide. Suicide rates have become a
major issue in many countries. Comparing rates between countries, however, can be difficult.
Some countries thoroughly investigate all deaths that could be suicides while others prefer to
classify such deaths as accidents.

Assisted suicide and euthanasia: A Buddhist perspective

Bamien keown, Vol.13 No.2(1998-1999)

In this research the researcher discuss that since 1984, euthanasia has been legally
permissible in the Netherlands, physician assisted suicide was legalized in the state of Oregon in
1994 as a result of a ballot initiative, and in 1995 a voluntary enthanasia bill was passed in the
northern territory, Australia. it gives contemporary urgency by modern developments in medical
technology, Which have too often led to the lives of patients being pointlessly prolonged, and
also by an increasing emphasis on the value of personal autonomy among ethicists.

Suicide bombers : a global problem

James M. Poland Humboldt journal of social relations, vol.27, No.2

In recent days, the terrorist strategy of suicide bombing has created increasing fear
and widespread media attention. While some suicide bombings are directed towards military
targets, most are directed towards civilians. It is hardly surprising that the suicide bombers
themselves have become one of the most feared terrorist weapons. The suicide bombers
discussed herein are those who carry explosive charges on their bodies, or carry such charges in
various vehicles like car, truck, bus, boat, bicycle or an aeroplane.

The suicide weapon

Jan hacking , Critical inquiry , vol.35, No.1(Autumn 2008)

The suicide weapon must be as old as the human race as older. It may be as a
part of a human survival. one dies, knowing that one is bound to be killed, in defense or attack,
in order that kin or clan shall survive. Let us take this route and say that there is one such thing as
suicide, peculiar to human beings. we will not battle about definitions. We will be plain and
positivist in the style of Emile Durkheim. He counted as a suicide.

Occupation and suicide

Steven seven Social science quarterly,vol.82, No.2(June 2001)

Research on occupation and suicide has neglected multivariate models, it is not

clear, for example, if person is alleged “high risk” occupation have high suicide risk because of
occupational. Suicide in the workplace is a going concern. According to the U.S Bureau of labor
statistics censes of fatal occupation injuries. 282 suicide workplace occurred in 2013,the highest
number recorded since the CFOI census begin in 1992.

RESEARCH GAP

Despite being a major public health concern, there is a lack of research into
suicide. The research that does exist is often focused on mental health risk factors, such as
depression, substance abuse, and other mental health disorders. There is a lack of research into
other potential risk factors, such as social isolation, poverty, and trauma. Additionally, there is a
lack of research into prevention and intervention strategies, particularly for individuals at risk for
suicide. There is also a lack of research into the environmental and cultural factors that may
influence suicide risk. Finally, There is a need for more research into the long-terms effects of
suicide on survivors, family members, and communities.
Statement of the problem

Due to high range of suicidal cases, it may leads to a lack of population. If the elders
engaged in suicide it may tempt a younger’s to do that. It affects the family members of the
affected party. The person who attempt the suicide and they are alive the scars and the attempted
marks remain it would affects the person till his lifetime. The affected person couldn’t able to
lend their body parts to someone. These are the major problems related to the concept of suicide.

OBJECTIVE

1) To create and promote safe environments for individuals who are suicidal.
2) To educate the public about suicide risk factors and warning signs.
3) To provide access to mental health services and treatment for those at risk.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

My research is completely based on both primary source and secondary source. I took review of
literature from secondary source through Jstor. I collected my questionnaire through Google
form. I took references from the websites. The research methodology used for this project was a
combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitatively, I did online surveys about the
synopsis of suicide in present generation. Quantitatively, I gathered data from various sources,
including reviews, journals, and other websites. This data was used to validate my qualitative
findings. References like Name of the researcher, Book name, Publishing year, Date and time,
Volume no are collected from the websites. While I was writing the review of literature I wrote
the researcher name and article names with it.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

It is important to ensure that mental health services are available and accessible for those at risk
for suicide. This includes providing mental health services in schools, hospitals, and community
centers, and ensuring that there is adequate staff and resources to provide necessary services.

It is important to foster supportive relationships for those at risk for suicide. This includes
providing a safe space for those to talk about their feelings and providing resources and support
to family members and friends to help them understand the signs of suicidal behavior.

It is important to limit access to lethal means, such as guns and drugs, for those at risk for
suicide. This includes implementing laws and regulations that limit access to these items, as well
as providing resources for those who need help getting rid of such items.
FINDINGS

1. Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, are the most
common risk factors for suicide.

2. Other risk factors include a history of trauma or abuse, feelings of isolation, loss of hope, and
access to lethal means.

3. Protective factors that can help reduce the risk of suicide include having a strong support
system, having access to mental health care, and developing a sense of purpose.

4. Warning signs for suicide include talking about wanting to die, expressing feelings of
hopelessness or worthlessness, and withdrawing from family and friends.

5. If someone is in immediate danger of attempting suicide, call 911 or a suicide hotline.

CONCLUSION

Suicide is not the only solution to wind up your problems. Search the solutions if you can’t get
proper solutions share your problems with your closed one, peer groups, parents. Suicide is a
serious problem that affects countless people all around the world. It is a tragedy that should not
be taken lightly, as it causes immense pain and suffering for those affected by it. It is important
to treat those affected by suicide with respect and compassion, and to reach out for help if you or
someone you know is in danger of taking their own life. There are many resources available to
help those who are struggling, and it is important to remember that suicide is preventable. With
increased awareness and understanding, we can strive to reduce the number of lives lost to
suicide each year.
