Experiment 1

The document outlines an experiment to verify the truth tables of various logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NOR, and XOR) using diodes and integrated circuits. It details the apparatus required, theoretical background, circuit diagrams, and procedures for conducting the experiment. Precautions are also mentioned to ensure safe handling and proper connections during the experiment.

EXPERIMENT NO: 01

OBJECT:- To verify the truth table

OR through diodes.
oflogic gates
and realization of AND&
APPARATUS REQUIRED:
IC-7400,
IC-7402,
IC-7404,
-IC-7408,
IC-7432,J
IC-7486,
Hook-up wires,
Power supply,
Diodes &
Resistor.

THEORY:
A logicgate is an
elementary building block of a
digitat eireuit-
gates have two inputS and Most togic
one output. At any given moment,
is in one of the two every termina!
binary conditionslow (0) or
high (1), represented by
differentvoltage levels.

AND GATE -
The AND gate is so named because, if 0 iscalled "false" and 1 is calied
"true," the gate acts in the same way as the logical "and" operator. The

following illustration and table show the circuit symbol and logic
combinations for an AND gate. The output is "true" when both inputs are
"true." Otherwise, the output is "false".

OR GATE -The OR gate gets its name from
thefact that it behaves after
fashionof the logical
inclusive "or." The output is "true"
te
the inputs are "true." If both if either or both of
inputs are "false," then the
output is "false.

NOT GATE -A logical inverter sometimes called a NOT gate to

differentiate it from other types of electronic inverter devices, has only one
input. It reverses the logic state.

NOR GATE-The NOR gate is a combination OR gate followed by an

inverter. Its output is "true" if both inputs are "false."Otherwise, the output

Ex-OR GATE-The XOR (exclusive-OR ) gate acts in the same way as the
logical "either/or." The output is "true"if either, but not both, of the inputs
are "true."The output is "false" if both inputs are "false"or if both inputs are
"true." Another way of looking at this circuit is to observe that the output is
1 if the inputs are different, but 0 if the inputs are the same.
