How to make a Suede Belt

High waisted Boucle Skirt.

The center back seam has stretched when lap zipper


was applied.

To prevent center back seam from stretching, apply


Edge Tape to center back seam.

Measure length of seam on paper pattern and cut Edge


Tape to sam e length. Fuse to wrong side of fabric.

W hole punch - a tool available when purchasing eyelets.
Heat ‘n’ Bond - 1 m
6m m wide Cotton Tape

1. Cut two strips of suede 5 cm wide x W aist
m easure plus about 10 to 12 cm extra.

If the above m easure is bigger than the width of


the suede skin - you may need to stitch two
lengths together.

Cut same out of Heat ‘n’ Bond


Iron/Fuse Heat ‘n’ Bond onto one strip of suede

2. Score the paper covering and rip off in pieces.

Place the other suede strip on top of the fused


strip and using a pressing cloth, to protect the
suede, press the two strips together.

The Heat ‘n’ Bond will have fused the two strips
together.
Edge Stitch the two strips

3. Cut a 5cm x 20cm suede strip, apply Heat ‘n’


Bond.

Using the whole punch tool, m ake a hole in the


center of the 20cm strip - this is for the buckle
prong to be fed through.

Feed buckle prong through hole and press to


fuse.

4. Edge Stitch the sm all piece as far as you can


go near the buckle.

5. Join the buckle extension with the other long


belt strips. Overlap and stitch two rows to secure
the join.

Punch holes on the other side for the prong to


pass through when the belt is worn.

6. Belt loop/carrier required for the excess
length.

Cut 12cm x 3cm strip. Fold edges in and again to


form a narrow strip. Edge Stitch.
Form a circle. Cut 10cm length of cotton tape.
Fold cotton tape in half, place on belt loop and
stitch through all layers to secure.

7. Thread the belt through the belt loop and on


the back of the belt, secure the cotton tape.

Stitch through all layers.

And there you have it!!! A sim ple but effective


m ethod of making a suede belt.
