Hour 1: Introduction to Disc Golf

Activity:
Introduction:
Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is a sport where players aim to throw a flying
disc into a target basket in as few throws as possible, following rules similar to
traditional golf. The game is typically played on a course with 9 or 18 holes, each
starting from a tee area and ending at a basket. Players throw from the tee area
toward the basket, and each subsequent throw is made from where the previous
throw landed. The objective is to complete each hole with the fewest throws.
Basic Rules and Gameplay:
● Teeing Off: Each hole begins with a throw from the designated tee
area. Players must release the disc from behind the tee line.
● Fairway Play: After the initial throw, players continue from where the disc
lands, aiming to reach the basket. The path to the basket may include
obstacles like trees or elevation changes.
● Putting: Once near the basket, players use a putting technique to complete
the hole. A successful putt occurs when the disc lands in the basket.
● Scoring: The number of throws taken to complete a hole is recorded. Terms
like "birdie" (one throw under par), "par" (expected number of throws), and
"bogey" (one throw over par) are used to describe performance.
