Who wants to hear a story?

This story is about Nila, a girl who always dream to

have a wonderful beach vacation. Let us all read the
story.

Nila’s Vacay

Nila is a fan of beaches. She always dreams of

spending her summer vacation playing sand and
swimming under the sun.
This summer, Nila and her family will be having a
beach trip around Batangas. Nila is very excited.
But one night, before Nila went to sleep, she heard
that her parents decided to cancel their family picnic
by the sea due to the weather condition. She heard
them say that it will be too dangerous to go when
there are huge waves.
Nila was sad. But then she realized it will be safer for
them to stay indoors if the weather is bad.

Guided Questions:
1. Who is the character in the story?
2. How did Nila feel after hearing that their picnic
is canceled?
3. How did Nila respond to the situation?
4. What do you think is the weather in the story?

Integration: Across Curriculum Area-English

Write a reaction about the characters in a story read.

B. Establishing a purpose for the The weather truly affects one’s daily activities even
lesson the kind of clothes we wear. For example, you are
allowed to go to play outside when the weather is fair.
Your parents can do laundry during sunny days to
easily dry clothes. People’s activities depend on the
weather condition.

Our topic today is all about Safety Precautions During

Different Weather Conditions.

At the end of this lesson, you are expected to identify

and perform safety precautions during different
weather conditions.

Let’s unlock the following terms:

Safety Precaution - a precaution that is taken in

order to ensure that something is safe and not
dangerous.

Weather Condition – the atmospheric conditions

that comprise the state of the atmosphere in terms of
temperature and wind and clouds and precipitation .

Post the words “Weather” and “Climate” on the

board.
Ask: Class, are Climate and Weather the same? What’s
the difference between the two?
Correct!
Climate - characterizes the average weather
conditions for a particular location over a long period
of time.

Weather - is about what's going on in the sky and

clouds right now. In other words, it's the daily state of
the atmosphere.

Here in the Philippines, we only have 2 climates.

These are Wet season (Tag-ulan) and Dry season (Tag-
araw).

Integration: Within Curriculum Area-Science

G6-Q4-Week 3- Describe the different seasons in the
Philippines. (S6ES-IVc-3)
How about the weather? Can you name some weather
conditions here in our country?

Possible answers are the following:

Sunny Day
Rainy Day
Windy Day
Stormy Day
Fair Weather

DAY 2: GUIDED CONCEPT EXPLORATION

C. Presenting the new lesson Let’s play FACT or BLUFF!
Mechanics: Learners will show a check hand gesture

if the answer is FACT and x hand gesture

if BLUFF.

1. The weather in the picture is rainy.

2. The boy feels cold in the picture.
3. The boy is eating ice cream.
4. The boy is wearing a cap because it’s sunny.

1. The weather is sunny.

2. The girl is using an umbrella to
avoid getting wet.
3. The girl is wearing thin clothes
because it’s hot.
4. The girl is playing in the flood.

Integration: Across Curriculum Area-English

G4-Q4-M1- Distinguish fact from opinion in a narrative.
EN4WC-IIi-36

Why is it necessary to be prepared for any kind of

weather?
Correct!

Weather condition changes from day to day and from

time to time. The weather may be fine or fair in the
morning and then rainy in the afternoon. If you are not
prepared, you may get wet with rain and get sick.

We need to know about the weather conditions to

keep us safe and enjoy outdoor activities only if we
have fine weather. Sports, field trips, kite flying, and
camping are seldom held during rainy days.
Weather helps you decide what games to play. Your
knowledge of the weather forecast for the day also
helps you make necessary preparations.
Weather helps us decide what clothes to wear. We feel
comfortable wearing light-colored thin clothes in warm
weather and dark-colored thick clothes and use thick
blankets in cold weather.
Weather also influences the kind of food we eat. In
case of stormy weather, we are advised to stay home
DAY 3: EXPERIENTIAL AND INTERACTIVE ENGAGEMENT
D. Presenting examples/instances of Diagnostic Assessment
the new lesson. (Diagnostic
Assessment) TRUE or FALSE: Raise your right hand if the
statement is true and stand up if the statement is
false.
1. We need to apply sunscreen on a sunny day.
2. I have to stay indoors if the weather is rainy.
3. We will play outside if the weather is sunny.
4. I will thick clothes on a stormy day.
5. If it’s raining, use an umbrella when going out.

Group the learners according to their correct number

of responses and prepare them for the targeted
instruction

Group 1: 0-1
Group 2: 2-3
Group 3: 4-5
Indicator 9. Designed, selected, organized and

DAY 4: EXPERIENTIAL AND INTERACTIVE ENGAGEMENT

H. Making Generalizations and Teaching Strategy: HOTS-Questions
Abstraction about the Lesson.
Class, what am I wearing?
When can we use sunglasses?
Where can we use sunglasses?
Why do we use sunglasses?
How can we benefit from wearing sunglasses?

Very good!

To check if you really understand our previous

discussions, let us play a game. Do you want to play a
game?

Online-based Game: Whack-a-mole

Learners will be divided into four (4) gender-mixed
groups. Each group will identify the safety precautions
during sunny and rainy days by whacking moles that
correspond to the correct answers. Each group will be
given one (1) minute to finish each activity.

Good job, class!

Who wants to play another activity?

Game: Classroom Feud (inspired by Family

Feud)
Mechanics:
Learners will remain in their groups. All four (4) groups
will play the game. The teacher will read the
questions, and to answer, learners will have to raise
their hands together, the group who raises hands first,
will get the chance to answer the question. The group
that gets the highest score wins.

Questions:

1. Name three (3) things that we use on sunny

days.
2. Name three (3) things that we eat on rainy
days.
3. Name three (3) things that we wear on rainy
days.
4. Name three (2) things that we avoid wearing on
sunny days.
5. Name three (2) things that we prepare on
stormy days.
6. Name three (3) things that we eat on sunny

also helps you make necessary preparations.
Weather helps us decide what clothes to wear. We feel
comfortable wearing light-colored thin clothes in warm
weather and dark-colored thick clothes and use thick
blankets in cold weather.
Weather also influences the kind of food we eat.
In case of stormy weather, we are advised to stay
home and take the necessary precautions. We store
enough food and prepare the flashlights, candles,
water, and other needs.

Did you know?

Show and let the pupils read these numbers:

27.1°C
50 °C

Is 27°C a high temperature? How about 50°C

Did you know that the average normal temperature

here in the Philippines is 27.1°C? And for this year,
Legazpi City in Albay logs 50°C. The highest
temperature ever recorded so far in the country this
year.

idea that states that rather than passively absorbing
information, learners generate knowledge. People
develop their own representations and incorporate
