Reflection 1
The first week of deployment allowed me to observe my cooperating teacher. When I observed my
teacher teaching math to her students for a week, I was able to gain a greater insight into the inner
workings of a successful classroom. My teacher was able to create a respectful and nurturing
environment that allowed her students to feel comfortable and safe while learning. Seeing this laid the
foundation for a successful and productive learning experience for her students.
The first thing that struck me about my teacher’s teaching style was how patient and understanding she
was with her students. She was able to create a learning environment that allowed her students to ask
questions and express their confusion without fear of judgment or embarrassment. This enabled her
students to feel comfortable and confident while they worked through their math problems. In addition,
she was able to break down complex concepts into simpler chunks and provide multiple examples to
help her students better understand the material.
The second thing that I noticed was how my teacher was able to keep her students engaged during
class. She was able to use a variety of techniques, such as creating fun activities and using visual aids, to
help her students better understand the material. She also incorporated technology into her lessons by
showing videos and using online tools to help her students further understand the concepts. This helped
her students stay focused and engaged while they worked through the math problems.
The third thing that I noticed was how my teacher was able to keep her students motivated. She was
able to give positive reinforcement and provide individualized feedback to her students. This
encouraged her students to keep up their hard work and strive to understand the material better. She
also used incentives such as extra credit and rewards to further motivate her students.
Overall, observing my teacher teach math for a week was an incredibly insightful experience. I was able
to gain a greater understanding of how to create a respectful learning environment, how to keep
students engaged, and how to motivate them to keep up the hard work. These are all important
qualities of a successful math teacher, and observing my teacher in action was an invaluable experience.
Reflection 2
This week is the week that we are the ones who will teach the students. My first week of teaching grade
9 students about math has been an exhausting and rewarding experience. Even though I had to stay up
late to create lesson plans, it was worth it to see my students engaged and learning. When I first started
teaching, I was a bit nervous. I was worried that my students wouldn’t understand me or that I wouldn’t
be able to explain the math concepts clearly enough for them. I was also worried about making mistakes
and not being able to answer their questions.
However, I was lucky to have a great cooperating teacher who was always willing to help me whenever I
made a mistake. She was patient and understanding, and her guidance helped me become more
confident in my teaching. The students were eager to learn, and their enthusiasm was infectious. I could
tell that the students were genuinely interested in the material and were willing to work hard to
understand it. I tried to make the lessons as engaging and interactive as possible so that the students
could get the most out of the material. I incorporated discussion, group work, and multimedia into the
lessons to keep the students engaged.
The first week of teaching went well, but there were some challenges. I found that the students had
difficulty staying focused during the lessons, particularly when they were working in groups. I had to
adjust my approach to ensure that the students were staying on track and engaging with the material. I
also noticed that some of the students were not as confident in their math skills as the others. I decided
to break the students into smaller groups and provide additional help to those who needed it.
I also encountered a variety of different learning styles. Some students were visual learners and
responded best to diagrams and animations; others were auditory learners and responded better to
verbal explanations. I found that it was important to adjust my teaching style to fit each student’s needs.
This allowed all of the students to feel comfortable and build their confidence. I also had to learn how to
manage the classroom. Some students were talkative and needed to be reminded to be respectful of
their classmates. I found that when I was clear and consistent with my expectations, the students
responded better.
Overall, I am proud of how far I have come in just one week. I have learned a lot about how to teach
math and how to manage a classroom. I am excited to continue to build my skills and knowledge in the
weeks to come. Although it was tiring and challenging, I am grateful for the opportunity to teach the
students and help them develop their math skills.
Reflection 3
After my second week of teaching Grade 9 students, I have to say that it was very tiring for me. Even
though I had put in a lot of effort into preparing my lesson plans, I felt like I was not able to keep up with
the pace. This was because I had not gotten enough sleep due to late nights spent preparing my lessons.
Also, I was finding it difficult to get my students to understand my lessons on ratio and proportion, as
they were not familiar with how to multiply numbers.
Despite all this, I was still able to learn a lot in my second week of teaching. I was able to apply the
guidance and advice given to me by my cooperating teacher, which helped me to become more
confident in my teaching style. I was also able to reflect upon my lessons and find ways to improve them.
This included adjusting the pace of the lesson to match my students’ learning abilities and introducing
new methods for teaching the same concepts.
However, despite her help, it was still quite a challenge to teach the lesson on ratio and proportion to my
Grade 9 students. Many of them seemed to struggle with the concepts and were unable to grasp how to
multiply numbers. I tried to break down the lesson into smaller chunks and use a variety of teaching
strategies to help them understand. I also provided plenty of examples and worked with them
individually when necessary.
One of the most important things that I learned during my second week of teaching was the importance
of patience. Even though it was difficult for me to get my students to understand my lessons, I had to
remind myself to stay patient and not get frustrated. This was not easy, but it was necessary for me to be
able to effectively teach my students.
Overall, my second week of teaching Grade 9 math was a difficult one. I was exhausted due to lack of
sleep and my students were struggling to understand the lesson. However, with the help of my
cooperating teacher, I was able to get through the week and provide my students with a good learning
experience. I am looking forward to the next week and continuing to improve my teaching skills.
Reflection 4
My third week of teaching Grade 9 students about math has been an incredible learning experience. I
have found that following the teachings, recommendations, and suggestions of my cooperating teacher
has been invaluable in helping me improve my teaching. It has been amazing to witness the
transformation of my students from feeling scared to recite in class to becoming more engaged and
confident in their ability to answer questions.
My students have been slowly but surely becoming more engaged in my lessons, and I am seeing the
effects of their increased engagement in the classroom. They are starting to ask more questions, and
they are more willing to work together and participate in class activities. They have also stopped being
scared to recite in class and are now willing to take on challenges that I present to them.
I have also started to build stronger relationships with my students. I have taken the time to get to know
each of them better, and have become familiar with their individual needs. I am now able to provide
them with more tailored instruction, and they have responded positively to this.
I am so proud of the progress my students have made in such a short amount of time. I am confident
that by the end of this semester, my students will have a better understanding of Math and be well
prepared for the next school year. I am looking forward to continuing to use the teachings,
recommendations, and suggestions of my cooperating teacher, and to see how much further my
students can go.
Overall, I am very pleased with how my third week of teaching Grade 9 math has gone. I am confident
that my students are now more comfortable with the material and are eager to learn more. I look
forward to continuing to grow and learn as a teacher, and will strive to provide my students with the best
possible educational experience.
