Introduccion:
The webinar charged in being able to attend may not have been able to be
witnessed or attended by members of our team in team due to scheduling issues, we
have been able to have it similarly summed to main points of the webinar in the
video "20 Amazing Future Cities Currently Being Built," published by The Scary
Cherry in May 2024, takes us on a tour of futuristic cities currently under
development around the world on YouTube. Through images and narration, it
showcases innovative urban projects whose architectural and technological vision
promises to transform our way of life in the coming decades that have been
mentioned previously in the webinar ads mentioned by the teacher.
These future cities that are being mentioned are the main points that were
summarized and are to be designed to respond to contemporary global challenges
such as climate change, rapid urbanization, resource scarcity, and the growing
demand for sustainable, technologically integrated living environments mentioned in
the video itself and occasionally acknowledged between our own points of view in ur
limited review of the current world around us.
Webinar Summary:
Among the most notable projects is Telosa, a proposed city in the United States that
aims to house five million people. It is based on a new economic model called
"equitism," which emphasizes shared land ownership and a highly sustainable,
inclusive urban design with autonomous transportation and renewable energy at its
core. Another landmark initiative is The Line, in Saudi Arabia, a linear city stretching
170 kilometers, with no cars or streets. Its mirrored, vertical architecture is designed
to minimize environmental impact and provide ultra-efficient transport systems
beneath the surface.
In Asia, Oceanix Busan in South Korea proposes a floating city as a solution to rising
sea levels. Built with sustainable materials like biorock, the city is designed to be
self-sufficient and climate-resilient. It's worth emphasizing that this is the world’s first
floating city prototype backed by the UN. It seeks to establish a scalable,
flood-resilient urban model, built with modular platforms and powered by circular
resource systems.
Similarly, Masdar City in the United Arab Emirates, under construction since 2008,
aims to become a zero-emissions city powered by renewable energy and managed
by smart technologies. Set in the steppes near Ulaanbaatar, Maidar City is a
Buddhist-inspired eco-city designed for 280,000 inhabitants. It incorporates
renewable energy sources (especially wind and solar), smart transportation systems,
and green infrastructure leading to hopefully much lower carbon emissions.
In Latin America, Smart Forest City near Cancún, Mexico, integrates over 7.5 million
plants into its architecture, symbolizing a harmonious relationship between urban life
and nature. Like many cities featured in the video, this project emphasizes ecological
urbanism, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure.
Japan’s Woven City, developed by Toyota, is envisioned as a “living laboratory” to
test autonomous vehicles, hydrogen-based energy systems, robotics, and smart
homes, all within a city designed for human interaction and experimentation. In
Egypt, the New Administrative Capital is being built 45 kilometers east of Cairo to
ease urban congestion and offer a futuristic alternative with smart infrastructure and
advanced urban planning.
Inspired by the fictional Wakanda from Black Panther, Akon City is a pan-African
tech utopia in Senegal envisioned by the singer artist Akon. It is planned to operate
on a cryptocurrency called "Akoin" and aims to be a hub for innovation, renewable
energy, and luxury tourism.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the video not only showcases the architectural and technological
magnitude of these future cities, but also encourages reflection on the evolution of
urban planning in the 21st century. These projects go beyond innovative design; they
propose new social, ecological, and economic systems aimed at enhancing quality of
life. Although many of them still face technical, political, or financial obstacles, their
existence signals a paradigm shift toward cities that are more sustainable,
connected, and inclusive.
These cities share a common vision: to reinvent urban space as a resilient,
intelligent, and environmentally responsible ecosystem. While some are still in
conceptual or early construction phases, others are well underway. Nevertheless, all
represent a bold reimagining of what urban life can be in the future.
