OUR E-LEARNING IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY
DEFINATION OF E-LEARNING
E-learning (eLearning) refers to the use of electronic media and Information and Communication
Technologies ICT in education.
It involves the intensive use of the following Multi-Media learning platforms:
a) Technology Enhanced learning (TEL)
b) Computer Based Instruction (CBI)
c) Computer Based Training (CBT)
d) Computer Aided/Assisted Instruction (CAI)
e) Internet – Based Training (IBT)
f) Web-Based Training (WBT)
g) Virtual Learning Environments (VLE)
E – LEARNING STRATEGY
The development of eLearning strategy will enable our Institution to determine the needs across
the school for capture and creation, intelligent storage and dissemination of information, and the
role of technology.
THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE ELEARNING STRATEGY
The process will involve the following areas:
1. LEARNING ACROSS THE INSTITUTION.
The institution will document what we currently know about eLearning and the
anticipated direction. This will enable identify key decisions and factors that will impact
the strategy, software, tools, processes, resources required and objectives of the strategy.
2. CONTENT SELECTION PROCESS.
This area will involve high level analysis of the current process used to select content for
the learning areas, presentations and programs. This will enable the selection of
appropriate content to put on the eLearning platforms to meet the Institutions learning
objectives
3. ACCESS, RETRIEVAL AND REUSE.
This area will aim at categorizing and classifying content within the context of the
institution’s learning objectives. The institution will explore how to identify content in
meaningful ways so the users can gain access at the right level.
4. MAPPING AND CONTENT USE.
Mapping process will explore how to map content to the learning, performance and
Institutions objectives by leveraging data and information from other systems like the
user profiles and learner paths.
5. DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY
The success of this strategy will depend on the output and how we manage the output. It
will detail which model, and how to evaluate the output from the model.
6. THE DELIVERY TECHNOLOGY.
The E-learning deliver will include numerous types of media that will deliver text, audio,
images, animation, and streaming video, technology applications and processes such as
audio or video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning, as well as
local intranet/extranet and web- based learning. Information and communication systems,
whether freestanding or based on either local networks or the Internet in networked
learning.
7. MAINTENANCE PLANNING
This area will detail how the Institution will maintain the content and other systems. The
institution will establish a plan to identify a systematic review, triggering mechanisms
and the measurement criteria of the learning content with a view of providing a fresh,
timely and engaging learning experience.
8. E-LEARNING STRATEGY PLAN
In this area the institution will develop projects, tasks, activities, resources, and timelines
for moving forward. The plan will include a process of prioritizing projects, managing
scope, identifying and resolving issues, and shifting schedules and resources as the
programs and projects move forward.
9. MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION.
This area will explore how the institution will measure the successes and failures of the
program within the institution. It will establish the outcomes to assess the whole
technology-enabled instructional process, which will depend on the technology
architecture, content, instructional design, teaching strategies associated with the
software, attitude of all those who participate and the working environment.
CONCLUSION
All stake holders will have the mandate of protecting the rights of the learners as they endeavor
to get information from the eLearning platforms.
The institution will make all the eLearning platforms provided to be safe for learners and other
users.
