DESIGN OF SLABS

1. The bending moment coefficients for slabs spanning in one direction are
taken from Table 6.4 in CP2013.

2. The bending moment coefficients for slabs spanning in two directions are
taken from Table 6.6 in CP-2013.

3. Design data:
Main bars -- High tensile steel, fy = 500.0 N/mm2
Minimum reinforcement ratio = 0.13%
Distribution bars -- High tensile steel.
Minimum reinforcement ratio = 0.13%
Design loads for ultimate limit state are taken as 1.4D.L. + 1.6L.L.
Design loads for serviceablity limit state are taken as D.L. + L.L.
Design loads for fire limit state:
Permanent imposed load: 1.0D.L. + 1.0L.L.
Non-permanent imposed load: 1.0D.L. + 0.8L.L.

4. The following two ways slabs are available:

5. The reinforcement of slab is calculated accordance with CP-2013 clause

6. The resistance of cracking is calculated accordance with CP-2013 clause


7.2.3:

(1) Check strength:

8. The notations in program output are described as below:

S -- The span of one way slab or short span of two ways slab, unit: M
L -- The long span of two ways slab, unit: M.
Thick. -- The overall thickness of slab, unit: mm.

Output without crack checking:


M -- The bending moment of slab, unit: kN-M.
K -- The value of M/bd12
Z -- The lever arm of tensile bars, unit: mm
As -- The required area of reinforced bars, unit: mm2.

Output with crack checking:


M -- The bending moment of slab, unit: kN-M.
X/d -- The ratio of depth to neutral axis and slab thickness.
r -- The percentage of reinforced bar / concrete area.
fs -- The stress in tensile bars, unit: kN/mm2.
Em -- The average strain at the level where the cracking is being
considered.
Acr -- The maximum distance from tension face to surface of nearest
bar, unit: mm.
Wcr -- The width of cracking, unit: mm.
As -- The required area of reinforced bars, unit: mm2.

Span-Effective Depth Ratio:


Actual: The actual span-effective depth ratio.
Allowable: The calculation result from Clause 7.3.4 of CP-2013.
