where the American journalist Ernie Pyle witnessed it being played by the soldiers
Americans in leisure time during the North African campaign 1942-1943.

In the early 1960s, at the holiday games of the Colleges of the United States
from America (USA), an entertainment was conceived that used as little material as possible.
sport; with this, the practice of Kickball began, played with a Soccer ball, by a
group of children of both sexes, picking up the ball hit with the foot, very similar to baseball,
but without gloves and without bat. It was practiced like a camping game, until it became
incorporated into schools as part of the Physical Education program, due to the little
need for sports material (just a ball and a little space) and the ability to include
greater number of children in their actions.

During the 70s and 80s, adult Kickball leagues began to operate everywhere.

play space for adults. This organization maintains the regime of recreational sports,
that is practiced in North American schools, maintaining a mixed character, forcing to
to have the same number of women and men in the game, in case a change is made it must
to occur among people of the same sex. Unlike Kickball in the USA, in Venezuela the
Kickingball is practiced with the unique participation of women of all ages.

The Kickingball in Venezuela

Kickingball is a team sport that arrived in Venezuela in 1965, being introduced through
oil companies and expanding to private educational institutions thanks to the
teacher "Charito Ramírez", proudly called "The Mother of Kickingball"
who witnessed Kickball in the United States and brought the idea of the game to the 'Mereci Academy'
(Cerro Verde, Miranda State) and to the schools 'Santa Rosa de Lima' and 'Sagrado Corazón', the
they organized the 1st Inter-school Tournament, having as the first obstacle the lack of
fields, which later led to the construction of the First Exclusive Field for this sport in
our country, in the 'Merecí Academy'.

When the idea of the Kickball game from the USA arrived in Venezuela, in an inexplicable way and
unknown was called 'KICKINGBALL' and since then it has been named that way. It is said that
it was called this way referencing the action that was taking place at the moment of
playing it: "Kicking a Ball" (Kicking a Ball), this because it started to be practiced in
prestigious schools and in these the English language is studied from primary school.

The discipline was overseen by the Criollitos de Venezuela Corporation during the 70s.

“Academia Merecí”,“Los Campitos”,“Claret”,“Santa Rosa de Lima”, “Arrallanes”, “Cumbres”,
among others.

In 1982, other categories began to be created with the arrival of the Clubs: "Cotécnica,"
"Camprolac", "Helados Efe" and "The Army Hunters". Mr. Daniel Crespo took the initiative.
to create the 'Kickingball League', which started, based at the 'Federico Sports Complex'

In 1980, the 1st National Meeting was held in Cabudare (Lara State). From this point onwards,
Games continued to be played in much of the country, with the flaw that involved the
lack of a uniform regulation, and of an organizing body that governs the matter.

On May 15, 1983, the 1st Invitational National Kickingball Championship was held in
Tovar (Mérida State), supported by the Criollitos de Venezuela Corporation, at its Tovar headquarters
(Regional president: Colonel Bustos), being won by the Caracas team, "Cazadoras", where
Mérida, Trujillo, Táchira, and Miranda also participated.

The 2nd Championship was on January 22, 1984, in San Cristóbal (Táchira State), held
within the framework of the San Sebastián International Fair, repeating the same teams and the
same Champion.

Starting in 1984, Kickingball began to expand, successfully being incorporated as a discipline of

exhibition at the Lawyers' Sports Games, participating in said games in the Federal District,
Miranda and Carabobo.

In 1985, 6 states managed to participate in those Lawyers' Games, with Zulia, Lara, and
Mérida.

In the National Lawyers Games held in the State of Lara in 1986, they participated in the
Kickingball 9 States. At the conclusion of the event, it was agreed to form the 'National Commission of'
"Kickingball", which was made up of two members from each of the participating teams with the
mission to unify the rules and to give legal character to the discipline.

This Commission worked to create a Regulation and held four National meetings:
Barquisimeto, Estado Lara (1991), Maracaibo, Estado Zulia (1992), Barquisimeto, Estado Lara
(1993) and in 1995 in Valencia, Carabobo State, these meetings assessed the feasibility
of the Rules.

In the year 2000, the organization FUNDESOL called for the '1st National Kickingball Congress', in
the population of Laurel (Miranda State), whose objective was to establish a Regulation
National that governed the discipline. This Congress was attended by 12 States: Aragua,
Bolívar, Carabobo, Delta Amacuro, Capital District, Falcón, Guárico, Lara, Mérida, Miranda
Monagas and Zulia, where important agreements were reached.
