Vocational Pastoral: Its essence and its work

The Vocational Pastoral makes the community clearly aware of forming a

community of calls, so that everyone, bishops, presbyters, consecrated and lay people, take on
your responsibility in vocational promotion.

We share the being and doing of the Diocesan Commission for Vocational Pastoral, which more
that a task specific to this commission is a mission for all members of the
Church. The primary responsible for vocational promotion is the bishop and alongside him, everyone.
the priests, consecrated and laypeople. It is the bishop's task to promote a space in the diocese
for this mission, therefore assigning it to a team led by an advisor,
so that it works directly for the good of vocations.

The Vocational Pastoral (PV) is the church's action in favor of all vocations.
to the end that it may be built according to the fullness of Christ and in accordance with the variety of the
charisms that the Holy Spirit awakens in her. Accompanies each Christian fully
started so that you discover and live your specific vocation.

Immense mission

First of all, it must promote the vocation to the priestly life, to the Consecrated Life and to the
lay life, their services in the Christian community and in society, and their commitment to the
construction of the Kingdom in its temporal dimension, because these are urgent and primordial
for evangelization. (PNPV nn. 314-315).

To inspire, promote, accompany, and educate, this summarizes the mission of this beautiful
labor, which responds to the demand of the same people of God: "Each sector of the people of
God asks to be accompanied and formed, according to the peculiar vocation and ministry to
who has been called: the bishop, who is the principle of unity in the diocese, through the
triple ministry of teaching, sanctifying, and governing; the presbyters, cooperating with the

permanent in the life-giving service, humble and persevering as a valuable help for
bishops and priests; the consecrated men and women in the radical following of the Master;
the lay men and women who fulfill their evangelizing responsibility, collaborating in the
formation of Christian communities and in the building of the Kingdom of God in the world.
It is therefore necessary to train those who can accompany spiritually and pastorally
others (DA n. 282).

Therefore, it is not just another movement or parish group, but rather a

Vocational Pastoral, which is the responsibility of all the people of God, begins in the
family and continues in the Christian community; it should be directed to children, and especially to
young people, to help them discover the meaning of life and the project that God has
for each one, accompanying them in their process of discernment." (DA 314). It is necessary
intensify the various ways of praying for vocations to contribute to a greater
sensitivity to the call of the Lord. A community that prays and works for vocations,
has vocations.
The PV makes the community clearly aware of forming a community of
calls, so that everyone: bishops, presbyters, consecrated and laity, take on their
responsibility in promoting and strengthening vocations.

An ardent lover par excellence

The vocational promoter is any Christian who, after having experienced in their own
the existence of God's free and merciful love, feels the need to bring others
this same full and unmatched experience. The promoter must be a witness person.

Sir; the vocational promoter is the quintessential lover. Unlike romantic loves
humans, we are going to want everyone to know this love. This impulse is God's grace, it is
vocation, is sending. The love of God does not produce jealousy, it is not a love that wants
only for one, as happens with human loves; it is an expansive love
what drives one to love the other and to make the other love God as well. This impulse is the
vocation-mission of the vocational promoter.
The great challenge

The vocation and commitment to be today disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ in America
Latin America and the Caribbean require a clear and decisive commitment to the training of members
from our communities. Christ gives us the method: 'Come and see' (Jn 1:39), 'I am the
Way, the Truth and the Life” (Jn 14, 6). With Him we can develop our potential.
that are in people and form missionary disciples. With persevering patience and
wisdom, Jesus invited everyone to follow him. Those who accepted to follow him, he introduced them
in the mystery of the Kingdom of God, and, after his death and resurrection, he sent them to
preach the Good News in the strength of His Spirit. The Lord was awakening the aspirations.
deepens of his disciples and attracted them to himself, filled with amazement. Following is the result of
a fascination that responds to the desire for human fulfillment, to the desire for a full life.
A disciple is someone passionate about Christ, whom they recognize as the Master who...
drives and accompanies.

I. Objectives of Vocational Pastoral

It is very urgent, especially today, that the conviction that everyone is disseminated and rooted.
the members of the Church, without excluding anyone, have the responsibility to care for the
"vocations" (PDV, 41). We work together lay people, consecrated individuals, and priests, all driven
by the Holy Spirit and each one manifesting their unrelinquishable wealth.

2. Make possible the topic of Vocations to the priesthood and special Consecration,
part of, expressly and clearly, the 'Contents' that are developed in the:
Ordinary preaching, catechesis for children and adults, training of catechists,
formation of Youth groups, formation of Confirmands and Altar servers, Pastoral
Familiar...

3. Remember that the Church has a mission to fulfill. The Church has the task of
Evangelization and our young people must see it clearly and participate in this mission.
We are called to be sent.
