THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST


Blood: A liquid generally red in color that circulates through the arteries and veins (vessels)
blood) of the human body and animals, it consists of a liquid part or plasma and
suspended cells: red blood cells, leukocytes, and platelets

Its function is to distribute oxygen, nutrients, and other substances to the cells of the organism, and
collect the waste products from these.

I. ITS MEANING IN THE O.T.

A. Blood was closely associated with physical life


14For the life of all flesh is its blood; therefore, I have said to the children of Israel: Do not
You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood;
Anyone who eats it will be cut off. Lev. 17:14
4But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. Gn.9:4

B. To spill blood meant to kill or murder

II. MEAT WITH ITS BLOOD

III. THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

Blood when it separates from the flesh does not mean life but death, life
delivered as sacrifice
By mentioning his blood, a reference is made to his atoning death.
All the symbolism of blood in the Old Testament finds its fulfillment in the blood of
Christ

11But now Christ is present, the high priest of the good things to come, by the more
a broader and more perfect tabernacle, not made by hands, that is, not of this creation,12and no
not by the blood of goats or calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for
always in the Most Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.13Because if the blood of
the bulls and the male goats, and the ashes of the heifer sprinkled on the unclean,
they are sanctified for the purification of the flesh,14how much more the blood of Christ, which
through the eternal Spirit he offered himself unblemished to God, he will cleanse your
consciences of dead works to serve the living God? Heb. 9:12-14

IN THE LANGUAGE OF SACRIFICES

1.God has made Christ the Propitiation with his blood (removal of
sins Ro.3:25); sprinkled with the blood of Christ (IP.1:1,2)
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,24being justified

freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,25to whom God
heart as propitiation through faith in his blood, to manifest his justice,
because of having overlooked, in his patience, the past sins, (Rom. 3:23-25)

2. Rescued from a vain way of living by the precious blood of Christ,


(IP.1:19)
18knowing that you were rescued from your vain way of life, which you received from

your fathers, not with corruptible things, like gold or silver,19but with blood
precious of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without contamination, (IP.1:18-19)

The blood of Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin


7but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

4. We have a clean dress by your blood


14I said to him: Sir, you know it. And he said to me: These are the ones who have come out of the great
tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

5. He makes us suitable for every good work


20And the God of peace who raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, the great shepherd
of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,21make you suitable for every good work
that you may do his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him by
Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Heb. 13:20)

IN LEGAL LANGUAGE

By the blood of Christ we are justified before God

Well much more, being justified by his blood, we shall be saved from the
anger. (Rom. 5:9, 16-18)

We can enter the sanctuary of God with confidence.

We have reconciliation and peace through the blood of the cross

stamps; because you were slain, and with your blood you have redeemed us for God, from all

5. He redeems us from our sins

and of Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the
earth. To him who loved us and washed us from our sins with his blood, (Rev. 1:5)

CONCLUSION

God does not change; His law is the same.

4. In the blood of Christ there is power, to redeem us, cleanse us, rescue us, peace with
God makes us fit for every good work.
