Introduction: Culture is made up of traditions, beliefs, ways of life, It gives us meaning, A way
of living. Human beings are the creators of culture and culture is also what makes us human.
Culture includes what you wear, celebrate and what language you speak. Culture is also an
umbrella term which encompasses the social behavior, institutions and the beliefs of people and
so on. 5 examples of culture are Customs, Laws, dress, architectural style, social standards and
traditions. Culture is important because it provides important social and economic benefits.
Cultural values are the core principles and ideals upon which an entire society/community exists
and protects and relies upon for existence and harmonious relationships. Humans acquire
culture through the learning process of enculturation and socialization, Which is shown by the
diversity of cultures all societies over the world. Tradition, beliefs, religion, and family are some
of the points that make culture unique.
What are the different ways the culture affects your own identity? Cultural identities are
influenced by several factors such as religion, ancestry, skin color, language, skill, family,
education. These are the factors that develop people's identities, They are many religions such
as Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc, These religions affect your identity in alot of
ways. Ancestry and religion have traditional celebrations where you might wear cultural clothes
or dances etc. Language can help you connect with your religion and country and that affects
your thoughts, emotions, psychological development. Family affects your identity because if
your family celebrates a tradition it's most likely that you also celebrate it. Education helps you
to understand the other religions/countries, It also helps shape the youth.
How could culture change or be affected by time, place and space? The time period in which
society and individuals live the types and forms of culture. The world we live in now is way
different than how people saw the world 500 years ago. Culture changes from time to time due
to the environment, technology, and inventions. All cultures change through time, However most
cultures are conservative because of that they tend to resist change. The three main
mechanisms of cultural changes are diffusion, independent invention and acculturation.
What are the challenges affecting culture and the subsequent effect on identity? The
challenges affecting culture are aggression and manipulation. Also having a large number of
encounters that are mutually gratifying helps to minimize and combat harmful effects of tense
interactions. Violence affects cultures by damaging short and long term effects on the mental,
physical well being.
What are some of the ways that culture is expressed and thus affects the identities of different
groups? Cultural Identities are influenced by several factors such as religion, traditional
celebrations, Traditional Clothes, Traditional foods, Skin color, ancestry. Different cultures have
different foods such as mongolian culture has buuz, Buuz is a type of Mongolian steamed
dumpling filled with meat, This dish is usually eaten at Tsagaan Sar, Naadam. It is also offered
at restaurants throughout the capital city known as Ulaanbaatar. Also for mexico one of the
traditional foods are tacos, it consists of a small hand sized corn or wheat based tortilla topped
with a filling. The tortilla is then folded around the fillings and eaten by hand.
Conclusion: Conclusion, Culture refers to symbol, language, beliefs, values, and artifacts that
are part of any society. Overall Culture gives us meaning and a way of living and is also what
makes us who we are. Cultures have traditions like special celebrations or traditional foods and
clothes. Culture is important because it provides us with important social and economic beliefs.
The 6 ways we identify culture one of them is Norms: Norms are the way we describe the
standard or expectations for how we live. The second way is Values: Values are the next cultural
elements, Values involve what we judge as good or bad. The third way is Symbols: Symbols take
on incredible importance in our culture and can manifest both in objects, such as the American
Flag as a symbol of patriotism, as well as gestures such as the peace or “ok” hand sign. The
fourth way is languages, The fifth way is artifacts, The sixth way is Rituals.
