Rules of Buraco

Objective of the game

Elburacoes is a card game for 2 players or in pairs. The objective is to create
stairs of the same paloo groups of 3 or more identical cards to get more
points that the opponents.

The game is very popular in Italy in its Dirty Open format and in Brazil in its
different modalities.

It is played with 2 English decks with jokers (except in the Open mode). The
Games can be played for 2000 points or 3000 points.

How to play Buraco

Distribution

11 cards are dealt to each player and two groups of 11 cards each are set aside.
one, called "dead". The remaining cards will become part of the pile for
to steal.

Game development

The first player must draw a card from the deck and try to form combinations to
deposit them on their play area (at least 3 cards). You may place as many
combinations as you wish.

Note: In the Open and Closed STCL categories, only the formation of ladders is allowed.

At the end, you must mandatory discard one card from your hand and place it face down.
at the top in the center of the table (pile).

At the start of their turn, each player will have the option to draw a card from the deck or
keep all the cards accumulated in the pile to form your combinations
(it is mandatory to steal them all).

In addition to making new combinations, you will also be able to incorporate cards into the
combinations that already have in play.

The wildcards

The joker and wild cards can be used as wild cards and can be used in any.
combination.

Note: in the Open mode there are no jokers.

In a combination, there can only be one wildcard. There can be 2 twos, as long as
one of them acts as a wildcard and the other its normal value.

It is possible to replace a wild card in play with the card it substitutes. In this case,
the wild card will move in the ladder taking another value according to the following
conditions:

If the 2 that acts as a wildcard is of the same suit as the combination, it can be
put in the place of 2, stop functioning as a wildcard to take the place
from 2.
If it is not possible, it will continue to function as a wildcard on the far right of
the ladder (where the highest cards are).
If it is not possible, it will continue to function as a wildcard on the far left.
(with the lowest cards).
If the ladder (from A to A) has been completed, the wildcard cannot be replaced.

The dead

On the side of the table, two piles of 11 cards each have been reserved, called
“dead”. When one of the players runs out of cards, he ends up with one of the
piles of the dead. Each couple will only be able to make use of one of the dead in a
departure.

When the deck of cards is finished, if there is any 'dead' card on the table, it will pass to
be part of the deck.

Baskets

A canasta is formed when a combination of 7 or more cards is grouped.

Depending on how they are formed, there are different types of baskets:

Dirty canasta: It is formed with the help of a wild card.

Clean canasta: It is formed without using any wild cards.
Real canasta: It is achieved when a clean canasta is formed.
from the Ace to the King (although in the arrangement the Ace is placed behind the King)
for having greater value.
Basket of as as (except in Open Dirty mode): to manage to form a
clean meld from ace to ace.

Note: a dirty basket can be turned clean when the 2 that is used as
wildcard can move up to the position of 2. If this is not possible (for example, if
a combination has a joker), it can never be a clean basket.

To beat

A player 'bats' when they run out of cards in their hand. There are different ways to
to beat
Direct: When a player places their last card on their play area,
you can collect the dead and continue depositing combinations in the same.
play.
Indirect: When a player places their last card on the pile, they cannot
make use of the dead until the next round.
Final: When a player places their last card and can no longer pick up.
the dead having at least one basket in their playing area. With this play, it
finish the game.

Note: in the Open Dirty mode, in order to 'hit' or close it is necessary to discard.
a letter to the pile.
