Steve Jobs was born on February 24th, 1955 in San Francisco, California. When he was a boy, he
had a special hobby: he liked to take apart televisions and put them back together again. He was a very good
student at school. After he finished grade four, he went to grade six. And in 1972, when he was seventeen, he
graduated from high school. He then began his studies in Reed College, in Portland, Oregon, but dropped
out after six months. He decided to quit.
In 1976, when he was only twenty-one years old, he created his own company: Apple Computer with
his friend Steve Wozniak. Steve Jobs later got married in 1991 and had four children. Unfortunately, doctors
discovered that he had cancer in 2003 and he died in 2011 at the age of only 56.

Satellites are devices which orbit the earth. Their most common uses are
communication− to transmit television pictures and telephone calls − and
navigation. Many satellites orbit the earth every 24 hours, so they are always over

signals, there are now satellite phones which can be used in places with no radio
signals.
Sat-nav, which is short for satellite navigation, is an electronic device which
can help car drivers and pilots to know exactly where they are. If you have sat-nav
in your car, it can tell you your best route and help you to avoid traffic jams.
Satellites have made it easier to forecast the weather accurately, and to warn
people about forest fires or floods through weather forecast programmes on TV.
Photographs from high in space can also help produce up-to-date maps.In poor
parts of the world, photographs from space can help farmers to plan for the future.

Alexander Graham Bell invented the

telephone in 1876. He first worked for his father. He
developed a system for teaching deaf people to
speak. This system, called Visible Speech, used
symbols which showed the position of the throat,
tongue, and lips in making sounds. From this early
experience, Bell became interested in the telegraph.
On March 10th 1876, during one experiment with
his assistant Thomas Watson in separate rooms, Bell
spilled some acid on his clothes by accident and said,
“Mr. Watson, Come here, I want you.” Watson heard
the message through the phone spring and came
immediately. These were the first sentences ever
transmitted over the telephone.
Today, people almost everywhere can speak to
each other by telephone. There are even car phones,
plane phones and mobile phones which transmit
sounds through airwaves rather than telephone lines.
The telephone has truly become an important part of
everyday life for people all over the world.

Marconi, the Italian inventor of the radio probably didn't realize what effects his great
invention would have on the world. Radio has had much influence on the world as any other
communication devices, Events can be reported to the entire world a few seconds after they
happen. Explorers in remote places, ships at sea even astronauts cycling round the earth are
able to keep in touch with civilization by means of radio.
Television is another instrument of communication permitting us to see as well as to hear
the performer. Since its appearance, TV has had tremendous effects on the daily life of
people. Everywhere many programs are now televised in color. Perhaps the most recent
advancement has been the "telstar" this space capsule makes it possible for the entire
