3. Gospel Reading – Matthew 22:34–40
When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they came together, and one of them, a
scholar of the law tested him by asking, “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said
to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
The Word of the Lord.
— Thanks be to God.
4. Reflection
This Gospel reminds us that the foundation of Christian life is love—love of God and love of
neighbor. These are not two separate paths but one single road that leads us to holiness.
Saint Dominic lived this Gospel fully: he sought the truth of God, prayed constantly, and dedicated
his life to serving others with compassion. His example inspires us to live out these commandments
in our daily lives, building a community where love and truth go hand in hand.
5. Prayers of the Faithful
To each petition let us respond: Lord, hear our prayer.
1. Lord, we pray for our families, that they may remain united in love, peace, and faith. Let us
pray to the Lord.
2. Lord, we pray for our teachers and classmates, that their example may inspire us to live
Your commandment of love. Let us pray to the Lord.
3. Lord, we pray for all those who suffer from loneliness, sickness, or injustice. May Your
presence bring them comfort and strength. Let us pray to the Lord.
4. Lord, we pray for ourselves, that we may be faithful to Your Word and true witnesses of
love in our community. Let us pray to the Lord.
6. Lord’s prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
7. Hail Mery
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the
fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our
death. Amen."
8. Closing
May everything we do today be in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Leader:
We now remove our headwear and stand at attention to sing the vibrant notes of our hymn to our
beloved School Heroinas Toledo.
Long live our beloved school! Let us applaud with strength.
The 4th C thanks you for your participation. May you all have an excellent day with the blessing of
God.
