Lee Jones
Principal
Nelson Elementary
1250 Roberts Rd.
Fresno, CA 93711

Dear Mr. Jones,

I am writing in response to the open position for a second-grade teacher at Nelson

Elementary School. I am a recent graduate of the University of Utah and am looking for
a position that will allow me to return to my hometown as I gain experience in my
chosen field. During my education, I have had the opportunity to teach in several
elementary-level classrooms, including first-, second- and third-grade classes. I have
also gained practical experience that has shaped my abilities to impart wisdom and
encourage my students.

I graduated from the University of Utah with honors in the early education program.
During my schooling, I took courses focused on interacting with students who struggle
with learning and mental disabilities, as well as managing larger class sizes by
collaborating with other teaching professionals.

During my education, I worked part-time as a teacher's aide at a local elementary

school in several classrooms. This experience showed me how to best handle a
classroom full of young children and how to use activities to encourage learning and
retention. I also learned from the teachers with whom I worked how to break down
complex topics with examples that younger students can understand.

Although I will continue to improve upon my teaching style as I gain experience, I

believe that my patience and enthusiasm are two of the aspects of my personality that
make me an excellent educator. I enjoy working with children and look forward to a
career where I can make a difference in the lives of many children in my own
community.

I appreciate your consideration and look forward to speaking with you further regarding
the position. I have enclosed my resume and a copy of my transcript. I am available for
an interview by phone or in person, and I am happy to answer any additional questions
you may have.

Sincerely,

Charlie Lund
