Student Information System

Introduction
In current system data is entered offline.
In current system there is a step-by-step process from circulation of form(s) to
students and receiving that form(s) is consumes more time and we cannot verify
identity.
In current system entering and searching of user form(s) and document is much
hectic.
So when faculty wants to look at particular detail of a student then faculty have to
go through bunch of papers and find their particular detail.
Above process consumes more time in searching of details.
In proposed system we introduced reports so by using different reports we easily
filter required data and sort through required data.
In proposed system we have a facility to store required detail for read it offline and
we can also make it on paper by printing it.
Proposed system helps multiple students in entering their detail at the same time
and we are able to authorize the user.
Proposed system is created in Visual Studio as language and WCF service for
server side service which is interoperable so it is operable from different platforms
too.
Proposed System uses Object Oriented Approach for their development.
Existing System :

Existing system refers to the system that is being followed till now. The existing
system requires more computational time , more manually calculations, and the
complexity involves selection of features is high.
The other disadvantages of lack of security of data ,deficiency of data accuracy
,time consuming etc.
To avoid all these limitations and make the working more accurately the system
needs to be computesised.
Visual basic 6.0 was used for the implementation of tis student management
system .
Microsoft access 2013 was used for the to store user details in the database.
Drawbacks of Existing System :

Though it seems that the existing system is easy to use but as the world is
moving onto service oriented nature , the existing system seems to be very much
time consuming & is not sutaible for company with high ambitions. The current
system has many drawbacks.

• Time consuming
• Errors and inconsistences
• Lack of security
• Information redundancy
• Slow tendious time consuming
• No direct role of higher officials
• Needs manual calculations

Advantages of Existing System

An organization that holds accountability, importance and maintenance of data


accumulated as key to assemble information ,often show success. With more than
dozen student management system accessible in market , from google classroom to
edusys,a preferable system is one which empowers administration to effectively
holds data by opening the application to countless features and modules.
Such software is design for pre school/daycare ,colleges ,universities ,schools and
independent teaching centres ;to moniter student ,staff and fundamental
employees’ activities .
Proposed System :

Student Information System (SIS) is a web-based application software designed to


introduce a conducive and structured information exchange environment for
integrating students, parents, teachers and the administration of a school or college.
Some of the other software packages available for this purpose include Student
Management System (SMS), Student Information Management System (SIMS)
and Student Records System (SRS). These software systems enable educational
institutions to supervise student-related activities such as keeping records of tests
or examinations conducted, attendance, appraisal on performance including details
of marks scored, particulars of everyday school attendance, and all other
institution-related activities; in short, they provide a complete student records
system. They are designed with diverse application potentials ranging from simple
management of students’ records at school to management of all student-related
functions as well as administrative functions of a university or a chain of
educational establishments.

• Ms office 2013
• Visual basic 6.0
• Ms Access 2013

Hardware Requirements ;
• Processor –intel i3
• Hard –disk – 5 GB space for Software
• Memory size – ram 1 GB
Feasibility study :

As a part of priliminary investigation the feasibility study was carried out .The
proposed system was viewed form three aspects.

1. Social Feasibility :
Student Information management System has gained huge popularity in the
educational sector beacause of its unique caracteristics which has helped
countless schools and higher educational institutes immensely .
Right from maintaining and updating student data with proficiency to
analyzing and creating reports ,the education management software has
helped substantially .
2. Operational feasibility :

This student information management System keeping the point of view of


existing employees. Already has the staff with the required technical
knowledge to operate the system . So the need to recruit select and train new
employees to operate the system is not really felt . already information is
computerized no need to paper work the system being highly graphically
interactive ,the need of highly trained technical staff is not required .this the
system is operationally feasible .

3. Technical feasibility :

The proposed system will be using Microsoft VB 6.0 as frontend and


Microsoft access 2007 as backend which fits in the hardware configuration
specified by the organization . Thus new system not be cost bearing for the
organization .

• Current system handled by only one user.
• Online order cannot be placed by customer
Future Enhancement

System can be converted into multi user platform with Sophisticated


security check .
An administration module can be designed to keep track of various types
deleted transection and accordingly updated data and consistency of
database .
System can be improve by the demand from the people to check the
reports of from people updated the data by the check or month abd
changed the system improvement System can be provided with backup
facility .
Conclusion

• After making this software we end up at the conclusion that this


way of the managing details of different modules is much easier,
• Data access become simple, speed ,increased ,and decrease man
power ,storage volume increased and more user friendly….
• No possibilities of data loss there ….
