The art of storytelling Date:

____________
Storytelling is the interactive method of using words and actions to reveal
the elements and images of a story while encouraging the listener’s
imagination.
There are different forms of storytelling:
 Short stories (A short story is a piece of fiction that is shorter than a
novel).
 Novels
 Poetry
 Dramas/plays
 Oral tradition

A common type of short story is called folktale. Most folktales have been
passed down through storytelling and have no known original author. Folk tales
can be divided into different categories, depending on the content of the story
and the way in which the story is written.
All folk tales are short stories.

When it’s night here, it’s day there. But I have an idea. Watch the sky tonight.
There will be a surprise.”

The animals waited impatiently all day. Finally, when night fell, they saw a
