Introduction to World Literature
This topic has helped me a lot to retrieve those important takeaways I've gathered in
my memory but just slipped away due to the bunches of informations entering my brain
everyday. Literature showcases the creative beauty of human being all around the world
that despite the chasm of diversity, was been united through common themes about
love, war, justice and hope.
There are two major types of literature, the prose and poetry. Out of these two comes
the fiction and the non-fiction. I realized that everyday our life is governed by literature.
As Filipinos we are still thrilled with our ancestors' stories about heroes, fairies,
superhumans, talking animals and many more. Everyday we listen to news, making
spoken and written messages, read articles from magazines and watch our favourite
movies and TV dramas. These practices only prove that literature is a crucial part of our
daily life. It's a way of expressing our deep feelings, informing others, entertaining and
inspiring people.
As a social studies majoring student, literature has caused a spark of interest in my
heart and I am determined to nurture it. Through literature I can understand different
cultures, can witness how emotions grow, develop critical thinking and use my
imagination and creativity. These skills are crucial as a future educator to successfully
guide my future students to become the better version of themselves. I really believe
that teacher's capability reflects on his products. Yes, I have this role to mold young
minds to be the best they can be.
To sum up, this lesson is helpful as it enables us to appreciate literature which plays a
crucial part of our lives. This motivates me to use literature to build a better self for a
better society. Yes, literature is far more than a creative piece, it builds one's life for the
better.
