1.Read the following passage and answer the questions below:- 1x10 = 10

In my grandmother’s house living room, a large wooden clock hangs above the doorway. Its pendulum
swings with slow, deliberate grace, and each chime echoes through the house like a gentle reminder. For
years , I thought of it merely a piece of furniture, part of the background. But I now realize it has been
quietly teaching me about time all along. The clock never rushes. It does not skip a beat or linger too long
on any moment. Its rhythm is steady, impartial, and unchanging. In contrast, my own days often feel
hurried, as though I am constantly chasing after something just out of reach. Yet watching that clock, I am
reminded that life unfolds one moment at a time, no faster and no slower than it should.
It also bears the marks of age – a small crack in the glass, faded numbers on the face. Still , it keeps
working, its hands moving with determination. Perhaps that is another lesson: we may grow older, gather
scars, and lose some of our shine, but our purpose remains if we keep going. When I visit my
grandmother now, I make it a point to sit beneath that clock. Its ticking fills the silence, and I find myself
breathing more evenly, more deeply. In a world obsessed with speed, the clock whispers a different truth

Note Making

Q.2. Read the following passage carefully and make notes on it also give a suitable title to it. 4
Life is not a bed of roses, but a bed of thorns. It is full of dangers and difficulties. In the race of life, we
should not be afraid of the risk which is natural. Success in any work in life goes to those persons who
welcome risk. Science would have made such wonderful achievements if our scientists had not risked
their lives and comforts. The more difficult a work is, the harder should be our efforts to perform it. Life
is not smooth sailing. Petty difficulties frighten a weak heart, who is not prepared to risks. But brave
hearts achieve fame and honor because they enjoy taking risk. In short, risk brings success and works
miracles.
